would you ever give up possession in OT? This is the same guy that has gone for it on 4th and short from about his own 30 against the Colts a few years ago when leading in the 2006 or 2009 AFC Championship game I believe? Why in the world would you give Peyton the ball with the chance to win?

All I can say is I feel lucky having took the Patriots tonight! One of the dumber calls ever which worked out right. Bellignorant is lucky or he would and still should be answering questions on his logic? Wind? Are you serious?

Agree 100%! You want the most chances to win it in OT, and that means having more possessions than the other team!

Weather..did you see the video of those flags blowing? That wind was absolutely brutal.
Also, do not question the genius of Bill Belichick.

Realize wind was brutal, but to give up possession? Wow! Huge call and don't agree with giving possession unless it's 100+ MPH winds! Did see the wind was brutal, but this doesn't make sense to me? could never give up possession, when a TD beats you and even a FG puts you in a huge hole. No, it's not Mornighway-Sp?, but still, always take the ball IMHO. Wind? What is your excuse when you lose because you needed wind at your back? just don't get it. It's OT, TD wins the game. He was damn lucky!:0corn

I understand the wind was a factor, but didn't 4 or 5 offensive possessions in regulation going into the wind end with points on the board?

It was genius...he knew unless Denver scored a TD under new OT rules he would get a equal chance to score with the wind and in case they held them scoreless he could kick a long FG...Absolutely genius IMO...

If a td is scored, the other team doesn't get the ball. Game is over

Did it work out for NE? Yes. But chancing the fact that your team may never touch the ball in OT is not genius!

You should hear talk radio around here today--brutal--
-Can Peyotn play in the cold?
-Why did they take the wind in the 3rd instead of 4th qtr?
-Why did Welker not catch the punt?

They still are the #1 seed and I see big chunks in the armour of KC

really!???

I don't know about that -- there this video where a guy punts a ball and the wind carries it for negative yards -- now, in THAT (windy) weather -you'd rather be throwing and kicking into that kind of wind?? --regardless of what the weather is?

http://<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/jVhbuQGWmik" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe>

you sure? because. if you kick to opponent and even if they get 1 first down, and can only muster a meager punt - you're starting in a lot better field position, than say, the 20 if you received --AND would then too have wind at your back when trying to kick winning FG

I hate belicheck more than most (and I hate'm), I assure, and seems genius-like because it worked out (and im not saying it is genius, nor is he one) -- but even have to admit, was decent call, considering

perhaps we'll have to agree to disagree here

That is why I agree here.....Yes it was crazy windy and Collinsworth mentioned they may defer to get wind....but you have to take the ball. If Manning went down and scored a TD on first drive Bill would have ben CRUSHED in the media. You can make a point for both sides...but you have to take the ball every time in OT when in the NFL. One missed tackle, blown coverage.....game is over.....Just my opinion!
