Heard today that Zimmer declined the job to stay with the Boys, which is awesome, but has anyone heard of any other possibilities for that job. Who is handling the recruiting?....the guy who coached the team for the Alamo Bowl was very intense and seemed to have the team ready, why not him?...

I will tell ya why Bo Pelini isnt the coach right now.....because Nebraska thinks they are too good for Bo Pelini. Which is complete horseshit! Bo Pelini got that defense playing great this year for the most part and right now he is about the 6th choice for this job. Nebraska better take their medicine REAL quick or this program is going to go down the chitter further than it already is. Hire Bo Pelini and save face while you can!!! The guy is a motivator and could possibly be the next great coach in college football!

Take a page from Ohio State you Cornhusker clowns!!! Ohio State is a pretty well thought of program...but did we spend a whole lot of time getting a high profile coach??? NOPE! Got Jim Tressel from Youngstown State and look what they got us!

Check yourself Nebraska.....your school is nothing special anymore!

I agree, Nebraska should hire Bo Pelini. He did good job as defensive coordinator and did well in coaching the bowl game.

Nebraska should do what USC did. Hired Pete Carroll (who also is USC defensive coordinator), and as soon as Carroll got the job, he went out to get the #1 Offensive Coordinator in college football. USC signed Norm Chow.

Nebraska would have an easier time than USC, since USC signed Carroll to over 1 million contract. I feel it is most important to not only to hire great head coach, but to also hire a great staff. Exactly what USC did. Pelini should come cheaper than most coaches, so Nebraska should go and find/hire the #2 OC in the country (whoever that might be). It is a very good formula for succuss.

As for Nebraska fans maybe not happy with Pelini hiring. Let me tell you, USC fans were very upset when Carroll took the job. At the end of the 1st year everyone started buying into Pete Carroll, and after Carroll's 2nd year he was 100% accepted at USC. Now no USC fan would trade Carroll for any other head coach in the country.

Maybe the same fortune can happen at Nebraska. I like traditional powers, and Nebraska deserves to be back on top where they belong.

FIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!

The AD should get fired for turning this search into a fiasco. Bo seems like the best fit there as well as a change in the offensive thought process of the team.

What is wrong with Nebraska is they are playing & thinking like we are still in the old days where you can get the best recruits, run the ball all day & night, & win titles. The times have changed due to guys like a Spurrier, Leach, Chow, etc & until Nebraska gets with the program, they will have to settle for 9-10 win seasons & a possible New Year's Day bowl.

If I was Bo, I would turn them down if they came to me now. The AD has slapped him in the face by not hiring him. If he knew for a fact he would have a top coach to come in then I understand but it is obvious he didn't & no one seems to want the job. I'd tell them to f themselves & then go to another Big 12 school as a d coor.... & show them!

As a cornhusker fan I agree that Pelini seems like the obvious choice for the job. The admin has been very disorganized in regards to the coaching position as they obviously axed Solich without a solid replacement in mind which was a very bad mistake. I agree Hockey that the AD and the rest of the admin are the one's to blame for this. Give pelini a shot and see what happens. It seems more and more likely that this will be the case considering how the number of prospective coaches who have already knocked the job back. Scott4USC, you are right in that Nebraska is one of the traditional powers in college football and once they get this current coaching mess soughted out will hopefully continue to be regarded as such. As for our school being nothing special anymore Tease, how many programs do you know of that have not fallen in to any kind of slump at numerous times in their history? With a coach who can utilize a different and more agressive offensive scheme (regardless of who that might be) to go along with our already solid and consistent defense, who is to say that the program will not be right back where it has been for many years- near the top! I agree that they are making a mess of the current situation but to make the comment that the program is washed up is way off the mark. :nono:

Will Solich go back? My question initially was why the canning in the first place? Guy went 9-3 with a HORRIBLE QB IMO. Jamaal Lord is playing the wrong position on that team IMO. Surely they have a farm boy up there that bails hay, feeds the cows, and then throws the fball against the barn. Lets find him. I hope Pelini gets the job, he seems right for it without the big name. And I know that Solich ain't going back.

The suggestion that Solich went 9-3 with a terrible QB is debatable as Lord only threw the ball about 7 times in each game due to the way Solich ran his offense. I know he hasn't got the best arm by any means but with an offense more inlcined to the pass, he may have turned out alright. Maybe next year we will see. As for the canning in the first place, i don't think the admin has even given a legit reason for it have they?

its not cornhusker fans or clowns that are the problem here, it is the clown athletic director he comes with a big ego and god complex most cornhuskers would love to have pelini the only thing pederson has done is fatten the bankrolls of nutt and zimmer and turn husker football program into a joke

I thought that Pelini Guy did a great job considering he had to clean up Bohl's mess!

Little Scotty,

Did you come in this thread to talk about Nebraska or USC? Enough already.

I offered my opinion and I agreed with Mr Hockey. I also suggested a successful formula Nebraska "could" take to get back to being an elite program again. It was a comparison when USC hired Pete Carroll 3 years ago, which was a very similar situation where Nebraska is now.

I personally do not care what you think of my postings so please do not offer me advice. Thankyou.

No doubt about it- AD and admin have caused the problems here. A quick resolution to the coaching dramas is the best fix it seems. Give Pelini the job and let's move on to next season.
