The Huskers are likely to add another team to their schedule next year with a game vs. Arizona State in the other half of the Black Coaches Classic. Just a tidbit of interest to anyone out there.

intrest me! Last time they met ASU shut them out 19-0 in route to the Rose Bowl. Nebraska has really struggled in their firsts games of year including last years 21-7 win over tcu. Both Neb and ASU are going to have a new qb....im real excited and am anxioous to bet over in this game

bgold: This ought to be a very interesting game as the players pined for the Huskers to play a name opponent after adding McNeese State as their 12th game. NU has started out sluggish since Solich has been there with the exception of their outstanding 1999 team.

Many Husker fans are still pissed about that game but they don't hate ASU. We are all looking forward to that game.

I know that ASU has a relatively inexperienced team coming in, but they always have great speed. I know little else about that roster at this time.

Quick background on new NU QB:

Jamaal Lord JR
Ht: 6-2 Wt: 220 40: 4.63 Vertical: 37.5"

He was in the top 5 total scores on the entire team for performance testing after winter conditioning this year. Eric Crouch never did that. While he does not have that track star speed that Crouch did, he is a much more accurate passer, better scrambler and definitely a smooth operator. Coaches and fans were bitchign about him, because he was not the most enthusiastic practice player the last couple years, but who would backing up a Heisman Trophy winner who they let pad is stats?

He is a very strong and responsible young man whom has taken in his younger brother from a bad part of Jersey to keep him out of trouble.

There is a lot of gloom and doom that people are forecasting for the 2002 Huskers but insiders have this to say:

The NU Offensive line despite the loss of Fonoti will be the best they ever fielded under Solich.

Dahrran Diedrick is a very solid runner who is ready to pique this year.

RS Freshman trackstar RB Marques Simmons 4.49 40 has been a terror while on the scout team. (That is like a 4.35 on a track)

Jr RB KR Josh Davis will see significant time (4.53)

The NU Defense will really resemble the superstart unit they fielded in 1999. NU's 3 new starting LB all run sub 4.7 40 yard dash.

The D Line will have a new complection and will be bolstered by a 6th year of eligibility to DT Jason Lohr whom was our best run stopper.

Nebraska has a Defensive Lineman 6-5 308 lbs who ran a 4.95 40 yard dash electronic on field turf that can bench press 225 lbs 48 times. He is from Finland and the coaches say this guy will be an all-pro some day. His name is Seppo Evwarawaye and his favorite food is hamburgers.

DT LeKevin Smith is another 6-3 310 pounder who is sub 5.0 in the 40 yard dash electronic on field turf. TRuly amazing athlete that has had some knee troubles but will be an absolute animal.

(Most schools run timed 40's on a track. Field Turf is like running on grass and you can probably subtract .1-.15 from the time of field turf)

The secondary has a Florida connection again with JC Transfer Rodney Burgess and incoming superstar Fabian Washington. DeJuan Groce is a preseason all-america.

If NU can stay healthy this year and Lord develops like QB Coach Turner Gill thinks he can watch out for this team which will have low expectations nationally.

ASU has 4 qb's going fo r the starters job after the pac-10 most efficent passer Krohn transeferred to massachustetts. Walter is huge and played more than Krohn last year is the leading candidate. They are deep at running back and have a superstar wr. They have a solid d-line with a great linebaker and no secondary and a horrible defensive scheme...although they have been awesome against the option the past 3 years
