I got my wheel hub assemblys swapped out on my Pontiac Grand Prix about 16 months ago, roughly 12,000 miles ago. Well, the bearings in the left one are already going out. I can tell by the loud rumbling sound coming out of it. I called the Auto Tech and told them and they said there is nothing they can do cause the warranty was up at 1 year. Every other mechanic I have talked to and know has said that is bullshit and those should last at least 100,000 miles under normal wear.
I was told to find the name of the actual part and call the dealer or rep and talk to him and see if I can get something back from him for it. It was a $190 part that I now have to replace again.

I was told that there is about a 90% chance that the part is defective and I should not let this go away. Does anyone have any advice for me on this, maybe someone who has gone through the same kind of crap?

I realize it isn't the biggest deal in the world but it just kind of pisses a guy off.

Thanks,

Kelly

I would say your only recourse would be to get the part replaced, keep the old/defectiver part and take it up with the manufacturer. I would bet it was an aftermarket part and not factory equipment. Aftermarket parts usually have a smaller warranty than the factory equipment.

Do you know who the manufacturer was?

It is made by PTC. I got the number of the Rep from intown here where they get there supplies so I am gonna call him and see what he can do. Probably nothing but we?ll see.
The other part of this that I had forgotten is that I had the other front hub assembly replaced also! So one went bad and one didn?t. That screams defective part to me but since I know nothing about cars, I will just have to hope!!

Thanks,

Kelly
