Hey gang... Need some help picking out a projector for my media room.

I think I have it narrowed down between the Epson, Mitsubishi, and JVC

Looking to stay in the 3,000-5,000 range.. I can go over if its worth it.

The problem is i have no idea how to read a spec sheet when it comes to this stuff. I dont know what is good or bad and all companies have about a thousand diff models.. Anyone have any experience with a decent projector they recommend?

thanks

Danny

have you checked out avsforum.com?? It's a wealth of information on any audio/video subject. It does take some time to wade through and some of it can get really technical.

Otherwise for a purchase in that price range why not have a home theater company help you out? I know the downside....the upcharge for equipment but if you can drop that cash on a good system I might consider getting professional help for a small increase.

What models are you looking at?

Are you putting this up on a wall or you going to do a screen type setup?

It is currently recommend two resolutions for widescreen 16:9 format home theater, those being 1280x720 and 1920x1080.

what time should we be over for the superbowl?

I have a similar pioneer receiver, you will enjoy it. You need to post some pictures of the finished product.

Hey Gibber. I've been in the A.V. industry for over 15 years. I sell, rent and install projectors. I deal with many brand names and my personal choice is the "Epson".

They are all pretty decent these days but I prefer the Epson for it's reliability, durability and user-friendliness.

I would suggest you find out in advance how much a replacement bulb will cost before purchasing your projector. A newer and brighter model can run you up to $800 just to replace the bulb when it dies (and it WILL die). On average they run about $400-$600 to replace.

My second choice of brand-name would be NEC.

Good luck and enjoy whatever you get!!
