First off, I have been just a casual follower of NASCAR in the past, but this year I decided to join a fantasy Nascar league with a bunch of friends down at the bar. There are 6 teams in the league, each team gets 6 drivers, of which you start 4 each week. We have a mythical $100 to spend at the auction to select you 6 drivers. My question, how do you spend your money? Do you bid most of it for one stud driver and fill the other 5 slots with low ranked guys, or do you try to get a bunch of middle-of-the-road guys and hope for the best? I pretty much know who the top few drivers are, but who are the dark horses? Someone who you may get fairly cheap, but might have that break-out year? Any help would be appreciated.

If you can change every week. You getting ready for Daytona? Thn you want the guys that let it hang out and faster is better. Jr Harvick, Gordon, Stewart, Jarrett.
Big Daddy what is price list for drivers. Im guessing J Gordon is 20 bucks and a Robby Gordon is much less. Robby will drive for Childress this year I am almost certain. He never had that good equipment before. Just couple races last year. He likes fast and is accedent waiting to happen. But a dark horse he is and should be cheap. Everyone takes J Gordon. You to may have to. Unless a strang thing happens he will be in top 10 in more then 2/3 of the races. I would not be surprised if he won about 6 or 7.

I'm in the same league set up as you (we're in UFL on nascar.com)....I also have:

Jeff Burton
Ward Burton and
Micheal Waltrip

only difference is u have Wallace and I have Jarrett.

Does anyone have an opinion on Mayfield. He's currently one of my backups.

If Mayfield does well at Daytona I would be surprised.

Mayfield always does well on "super speedways" like Daytona and Pocono. Mayfield finished third last year and should have a much better year driving the Dodge. Plus, he had problems last year due to the team owners giving him year old equipment and funneling everything into Ryan Newman and Rusty Wallaces rides.

I look for Mayfield to have a very strong year with Evernham as his owner - a proven winner.
