Well, not an impressive way to start my posts here at MJ's with yeterday's drubbing of the Bucs by the Brew Crew. :shrug:
Mil 12 Pit 6

0-1 -14.00 Units

Hate to see a game get away in the first, but that's what happened. With two outs and 1 on Anderson proceeded to give the Brewers a big five spot in the top of the first and maintain his weak showings at home. Early it looked like Pit might find a way to get back into it, but Quevedo kept the Pit hitters in check. The generally anemic Brewers--sporting a horrible road record (now 13 total wins) -have taken the first two in this series.

I enjoyed some humble pie while watching sports center last night and thankfully today is a new day. Stay tuned for Law's Lock 'o the Day and a write-up in a bit.

Looking to back the Bucs again tonight.

PIT -140 Fogg/Sheets (5 units)

I really like this young right hander....very impressive beating the Big Unit and the Arizona Sluggerbacks earlier this year. Although he started out strong going 5-1 early, Fogg has since gone 3-5 with a 4.67 ERA over his last nine starts. Overall, a respectable 3.69 ERA. Coming off an impressive showing against Det in a 3-1 win in his last outing, I see Fogg keeping that momentum. He has never faced the Brew Crew...but a great first opponent to pull Pit out of its two game losing streak against the lowly Brewers. He has a tendency to give up the long ball, but if he can keep the bases clear, I expect Pit to provide the run support needed to pull out the victory in this one.

Ben Sheets comes into the game at 4-9 with a 4.30 ERA facing Pit for the first time since plunking A. Ramirez. The Pirates should be fired up for this one also to avoid the pointing and smirking that will come from being swept at home by the Brewers. Sheets comes into the game having lost six of his last seven decisions and a 4.58 ERA over his last eight starts. He is an unimpressive 2-6 with a 5.66 ERA in 10 road starts this year. Overall a career 1-2 with a 4.19 ERA against Pit.

The last two days aside, Pit has absolutely dominated the Brewers this season winning the first 6 games and outscoring Mil 34-17 over that stretch.

Look for Giles to have a big game against Sheets and Mil to come back to form in losing this road game.

Hey, Spock, I've got a big basket...what can I say. LOL Over the course of the next coupla weeks I hope my record will speak for itself. (I'll knock on wood now.)

Good effort by Sheets, but better one by Fogg who steps up for his second 3-1 victory in his last two starts. Giles starts off 2-2 with a 2-run shot in his first at bat, which turns out to be the difference as Giles haunts Sheets yet again.

PIT 3 MIL 1

I have been leaning to the Angels in one of the late games, but have decided to lay off....too much vig and against the unpredictable O's...I can't pull the trigger. The O's send Erickson to the mound who I believe is a much better pitcher than his record this year shows. Also not comfortable taking Angels on run line, as this could be a close one going to the wire.
