They simply cannot stop the run. There was signs last year, giving up 4.3 ypc but the past 2 games have been horrendous. KC puts up 221 on 34 attempts and today San Diego runs them into the ground for 238 on 34 carries. For the year, they are giving up 5.6 ypc. First the Steelers and Rams got exposed and people were ready to annoint NE as the team to beat, but now teams see they just have to pound away at NE. Who will be next? Oakland, Denver and Philly look like the class of the NFL right now.

It is a concern, but they did a good job in their first two games against the run. If not for Brady throwing Red Zone interceptions, they could have gotten a road win against a 3-0 team.

They did do a good job vs Pitt, but the Jets only ran the ball 9 times and the game got out of hand in the 3rd quarter. And the fact that the two recent games have been terrible against the run shows they aren't getting better at it. Williams should have a big day next Sunday. I haven't seen a line yet but I think the Dolphins are a solid play.

The Chargers are the only 4-0 team left and you still refuse to give them any respect!!! That's OK I hope the teams they play keep thinking that also!!!LOL

bruschi and phifer were out against KC.

They were back yesterday after being listed as questionable all week, so I wonder about their health.

They were good against Pitt, but Pitt's running game is horrendous this year. Might be a real liability for the Pats. Miami should be able to move against them.

This was obviously a huge difference for them yesterday. One or two scores the other way and SD is forced to pass the second half which I think plays right into NE strengths.

That being said, if they cannot plug their holes, Williams will annihalate this team. It was sad watching it yesterday. I think also though, they are so aggresive there were two huge runs where they had guys in the backfield, they just were not able to wrap up LT. But hell, they werent going 16-0 anyway.

There has to be a huge concern in Patriot Nation. This is two weeks in a row where they could not stop the run. We give the coaching staff praise when they win. They are suppose to be defense geniuses. Yes, they could of won that game yesterday but they are not going to win in this or any other leauge if they can't stop the run. That run defense looked like something a small college team does against a big time school. It is true that they were a beat up team but their hits this year do not seem to be as crisp and as hard as last year. Last year, after teams played New England they were beat up. The past two games it is New England who has been taking a beating. I am not throwing in the towell yet but I have to say I was very surprised by the rushing stats the last two weeks.

Sbramm--

You are wrong. I liked San Diego yesterday and think they are a solid team with no glaring weaknesses. Good defense, very solid RB; that's a recipe for a playoff team. I make my own power ratings and have SD rated 7th, but only 1 pt away from 3rd:

1. Oakland 97.5
2. Philadelphia 97
3. Denver 95.5 (pending tonights game)
Tampa Bay 95.5
5. Miami 95
New England 95
7. San Diego 94.5

Have to remember their first 3 opponents were not good teams so that does hurt.

are as bad a run stopping linbacker trio as i have ever seen...they are not quick and do not tackle very well...the new england attack passing 50 times a game was going to eventually come a cropper...gets much tougher inside the 30 to make a one dimensional passing attack work without your big play receiver....the chargers made them drive the field with relatively short passes and made them have to complete long, extendedplay drives which they did until reaching the san diego 30....san diego`s stunting and blitzing caused problems also....was surprised that all the end around fakes by the san diego on offense weren`t adjusted to....time and again freezing the outide defender and allowing tomlinson to slide through the crease for enormous yardage...nice coaching job by marty....
