Aimed at lowering costs and evening out the field.

1. No telemetry to and from the car

2. No traction control, launch control and fully automated gearboxes

3. No spare cars so if a driver crashes in practice he can't race although the team can change engines

4. New qualifying rules with 1 lap to decide positions

I don't particularly like the changes. While it is designed to even up the field, my hunch is it will make the top teams better since they have the best drivers that can overcome these changes.

What do others think?

#4 could make qualifying matchups considerably less predictable as the luck factor is magnified significantly with only 1 lap.

England, u.k.
Although at times this has been a sport that has allowed me to make steady profits, dont think opportunities will not come about. I know qualifying will be hard as track position in relation to number of cars on circuit at any given time can ruin lap time, also track temperture will play major part. In my opinion, it will be better to let first few races go by to see what difference the new qualifying procedure does to the grid formation.

Lets not forget that driver skills are more at a premium now than in the last half dozen years. Check the driver versus driver markets for the race itself.

I dont think the ruling body has gone far enough. All drivers should be in car with same specification (works car), then we would be able to see who the drivers with real ability and guts are. You may be surprised that some of those guys from 14th and lower last year would easily make it into the top ten.

Bulldog I think that was proven when Mika Salo finished 2nd to Eddie Irvine a couple of years back when Schu had the broken leg. If I remember correctly Salo should have won that race but moved over.
