Packer fans, was just wondering if the rest of the state was going bonkers as this part is? People are up in arms that Rodgers is out. Some are even saying Rodgers is "soft" oh that was Mags from this site. What do you think? People here are clamoring for Flynn and want him started right away. Apparently they think he is going to play against a Detroit JV team like he did a couple seasons ago that made him all that money. I suppose they think he will have a full compliment of receivers as well. :shrug:I think it's funny to see all the madness, people here have been so spoiled for 22 years, having a top 5 quarterback and miss only 1 start in that time. I hope you guys feel the pain of having a shit quarterback trying to lead your team. I know it will only be for a little bit 4 - 6 weeks. This week is the season,a loss to the Eagles and playoff hopes will but all be crushed. They will probably lose to the Giants, still beat Minny and Thanksgiving they will get destroyed without Rodgers, but let's get into this week.

Green Bay is 20th against the pass and they show they can't stop the pass when they play a team who has an ability to pass. They look good against the Weeden and Ponder types, goes to show their secondary is just as bad as Minnesota's well maybe not that bad when they don't get pressure. Philly comes in with Foles off his 7 TD performance but their defense is not very good at all.

I see the Packers using multiple blitz packages and getting to Foles causing several mistakes. Expect the Eagles to box up the front trying to stop Lacy, I expect Wallace to play better with a full week of practice. I have the Pack rallying the troops with a 27 - 21 win.

On a higher note, I really believe the Packers are going to win the Super Bowl next year if they are healthy. I know when I go to Vegas during the off season I will be betting them to

No real opinion on tonight's game, thinking the Vikes may pull it out but I am not playing.

Detroit -2.5 over Chicago if Nate Burleson is back.. Will write it up later.

Wow.. I get a mention from BP! Yes, Rodgers is soft. Always has been, especially before he was a starter. Every time he got on the field, he'd leave with an injury. Put it this way - if that was Favre last Sunday, Brett would have gotten up, rubbed some dirt on it, and kept playing. Defenses are so kind to QB's today - with all the rules to protect them. Favre didn't have that luxury - and still didn't miss a single start for GB over 16 years.

But Rodgers, when he plays is a great QB - much in the Montana mold. A great player when healthy, but not there every day for his team. Favre is more in the Johnny U or Joe Kapp mold - shows up every day, even if he is hurt. Both style of QB's are great - I just choose the type that shows up each Sunday to play - because you can see what happens (Seneca Wallace) when the starter doesn't play.

But the Seneca debacle is on Ted Thompson. You need to have a quality backup - especially with a guy like Rodgers, who has shown that he does get hurt from time to time. The Packers have had such a tough year with injuries - there are not many teams that can lose guys like Matthews, Cobb, Jones, Rodgers, etc and still be competitive. Too much talent lost.

So, what should the Pack do? I still think bring Favre back makes the most sense. I think he would jump at the chance to repair his standing with some Packer fans that were down on him during his il-fated Vikings move..... Bring Brett back to play the next 6 weeks - and the Pack could go 4-2 over that period... then let him be #2 behind Rodgers for the last couple of weeks and the playoffs.. it would be storybook - 2 of the best QB's in Packer history both contributing to a team that wins the Super Bowl (obviously the other is Mr. Starr)....

Reminds me of a story from June of this year... I was getting on a flight in MKE and Bart and Cherry was also on the flight... I stopped at his seat (1st class of course) and said "Hi, Mr. Starr, I just wanted to say hi and thank you for your years with GB and all the charity work that you do". (He was heavily involved in the Rawhide boys ranch and was in town for the Lombardi Golf Classic). His response was "son, my name is Bart, not Mr. Starr. This is my wife, Cherry. Now, more importantly, what is your name and tell me about you." Just amazing guy - so personable and certainly not full of himself by any means. I proceed to introduce myself - and during this time, all the folks in 1st class are watching and listening - and of course the people behind me trying to get on the plane were waiting (somewhat patiently)... I then came up with this line: I said "Bart, have you ever heard the old adage about Packer quarterbacks?".... he said no, what? I then followed up with "people around the NFL say that Favre was great, and Rodgers is really good, but neither of them will ever be a Starr!".... I got a standing ovation from all the customers in 1st class! Bart just smiled and said "thank you - that was the nicest joke I ever heard!"......

I don't know if Favre is the answer, he already has said he is "too old." Plus he says he can't remember. I don't know if he would of played with a broken collar bone, quite painful and depending on the type of break especially on left side, you are playing with danger, IE: could damage an internal organ.

Calling Rodgers soft is a little bit I don't know coo coo. I know he missed time when he was first there but the guy has only missed 1.5 games since being the starter which is pretty damn good since he has had the worst pass protection in that time. To be honest, he's been hit soooo many times that I'm surprised he hasn't been knocked out sooner.

WTF is going on here, I am defending Rodgers the guy I can't stand

You are a Packer fan at heart!

Favre said no to the Rams (who wouldn't?)..... I just think his answer would be different for the Packers.... but who knows, I could be way off base here....

FYI - you made my point... Rodgers has now missed over 3 games (1 start and 2 that he got knocked out early) in 6 years. Favre missed 0 in 16 years..... pretty big difference.

Regardless, the Packers needed to have a backup QB. They don't have one. Best option on the roster is likely Tolzien - who was very good at UW ... but Thompson is wedded to Seneca. Thompson is very stubborn and doesn't ever admit he was wrong. Not his style.

Alright! Who did it? That's right, we all want to know!! Who hacked into bp's account and wrote that post about the Packers winning the SB?

Here is the deal, I have knocked the Packers the last couple years cause everyone thinks they are the greatest thing since sliced bread and Packer fans have outrageous expectations. I get it, they won a Super Bowl in 2010 when the league was at it's weakest. Don't mean to ruffle feathers but those teams were soft compared to what they are playing against now..

SO let's try to project to next season.. Assuming the Packers are HEALTHY. Rodgers is still going to be a top 3 quarter back with a full compliment of wide receivers, the young improving offensive line is going to have one more year of experience, and Lacy is going to be a top 10 back, maybe 6 or 7. They are improving on the defensive line, they have a dynamic blitz package, I know everyone is thinking AJ Hawk is so great but I still think the guy sucks. The Packers send in a big blitz and he goes untouched. Back to the rant, Hayward needs to come in healthy and start the season full strength. If I was a Packer fan, I would think this could be they year and would Urge Ted Thompson to maybe bring a free agent or two. I know that is not there style but an experienced line backer and or defensive back could really put them over the top. Also the Packers have a very good rookie crop right now and they are playing. These injuries maybe a blessing in disguise for next year cause it's going to give the team experienced depth and will make recovering from injury much easier next year.

Now the draft will be much easier next year, they can add an offensive lineman and get some depth in the secondary. I know they have good receivers but I think they should try to get a tall athletic receiver. Can you imagine a 6'4 wr for goal line presence. Just a thought

I will be laying down probably 2 to 5 hundred on them to win the Super Bowl.

1. Can always hedge in playoffs
2. If they win it God forbid, at least I'll get paid to ease the pain

You think that makes your point? You are calling Rodgers soft by comparing him to the IRON MAN at quarterback. Just about every team other than the Packers would take that, I can only think of one quarterback who has started as much as Rodgers and has missed less time and that is ELI. There maybe more but compared to rest of league Rodgers is far from soft,

Jay Cutler is soft

One more thing BP - for a Packer "hater", you sure know a LOT about the Packers..... I think you need to come out of the closet and profess your true identity.... you can even borrow my avatar!

FYI - Jordy Nelson is 6'3" and is an outstanding red zone receiver already......

He is a great in the Red Zone, they throw the back shoulder play to him. I think they need to add a fade guy. Packer's red zone offense has had some difficulty this year.

True - they have struggled a bit. But that is on McCarthy. He is so in love with the pass in the Red Zone...and this year, they have one of the better backs in the league... but they get within the 5 yard line, they seem to forget about Lacy and try to pad Rodgers stats by throwing (they are not the only team to do that)... Lacy should have a ton of TD's by now - they use Lacy to get all the way down the field, but then decide to have Rodgers throw it, instead of rewarding Lacy with the TD....

What happened to NFL teams running the ball into the end zone? Seems everyone wants to pass on 1st down from the 3 yard line instead of running it twice for a TD......

I'll put it this way, those teams weren't as good as they are now, my best friends are packer fans and he is talking title this year cause the tam is similar to 2010. Well unlike 2010 the saints niners and Seahawks are a little more formidable than the falcons bears and eagles were that year. Packers dud deserve to win it that year and my heart hated it but my wallet didn't

Plus that year they were road favorites for two of those games and a 2 point dog against eagles, there is no way they would be road faves against the teams I mentioned. Proves my point if NFC being weak. A 6 seed was a road fave in 2 games

All I can do is look at the numbers. Favre... 16 years with the Packers....played every game, with concussions, etc, it didn't matter. Tough as nails.

Shit Rodgers as a backup got hurt every time he stepped on the field. He's already missed games twice in 7 years. He surely isn't tough as Favre, isn't he?

Yes, injuries are part "luck".... But some guys are tougher than others.

And yes, Peyton, who amassed great stats due partly playing in a dome and then sat out an entire season, is a bit of a puss. I have a hunch that if he played outdoors, playing on the frozen tundra, his numbers wouldn't look as good overall.

Evaluating a QB that plays in a dome for most of his career is a lot like evaluating a HR hitter who plays his home games at Coors Field....you gotta realize the stats are artificially inflated... And that is a fact, Jack!
