Both coach Kelly's mentioned by Chris Mortensen on Esp-en, Marrone HC from Sillycuse (endorsed by Sean Payton & Loomis of Saints? Surely you jest!! Parcells perhaps a good endorsement? NOT, he is the one that brought in Tony Sparano for Miami and they did squat and Jets let Sparano go.

Holmgren wants back in as a HC? He had his chances but then again Coach Gibbs and Vermeil both came back after a short hiatus. How about Herman Edwards or Tony Dungy coming back?

Ray Horton isn't ready for a HC job as much as Raheem Morris was and how long did Raheem last? How did Schiano do for the Bucs his first year out of the college ranks? Bucs faded faster than a hooker in an alley way in the Bronx!

I'm sure we'll here something about Kiffin(s) on the Cowherd show this week.

But coaches who should get a shot are Lovie Smith and then Lovie needs to have a great OC, because his teams can win 10 games a year but they are poor on offense. Didn't Mike Ditka win a SuperBowl with a poor offense? I think Ditka's team that year average teens in pts scored and teens in pts given up and they beat Drew Bledsoe and the Pats!!

Andy Reid to the AZ Cards makes sense since him and Bidwills have a relationship of some sorts.

But the NFL is lacking good NFL coaches and the Einstein's that helped groom some of the future HC are few and far between. The only coach that did squat this year was at Penn St who worked under Bill Belichick at NE, O'Brien and he'll get a shot for sure with someone, perhaps the Bills or the Eagles or even the Chargers since they want someone young and energetic - hey, Lane is young and energetic!! LOL

Please provide your thoughts on the next new Head Football Coaches of the 7 openings currently, because I'm sure there will be probably 2 more in the next wk or two after the Playoffs and post-Super-Bowl!!

Thanks ya'll!!

PS: Don't forget John Gruden's name!! I'm sure he'll be asked a few times this week about possible contacts and openings, LOL!!

As a Bear's fan, I like Lovie Smith, but not as a head coach. Great defensive coach, but he had 9 years to fix the offense and couldn't get it done. I also thought his game management was not that good. His use of time-outs, challenge flags, and clock management had me scratching my head on several occasions. That being said, I think he is best suited as a defensive coordinator.

Ditka actually put together a very good offense. The Super Bowl team finished 2nd overall in scoring at over 28 points per game, just behind San Diego.

I'm hoping my old high school teammate Mike Zimmer finally gets his chance at a head coaching job. He has been a successful defensive coordinator everywhere he has gone. Hope he gets some interviews.

How could I forget Zim? OH MAN!! My bad!! He's been mentioned many times in the past and perhaps the Eagles will get him under the rug and make it a quiet hire? It's possible he could be an Eagle.

I heard yesterday and again today that Andy Reid may get the KC job, which makes sense since he wants all the "pow-wah", he had that with the Eagles the last 3 years and it got him how far? He should have kept McNabb and had two ample backups for him and went to a running game over 8 years ago which he ditched, of course Westbrook getting dizzy every game didn't help. I wish Andy luck, but don't play my Eagles, LOL!

Many coordinators pulling their names out the rumor mill and Gruden is denying reports as well, but he's always like that, he doesn't like to let the cat out of the bag, my guess is he'll get a shot with the Eagles or perhaps the Chargers.

I would love to have Zim come home and coach the Bears, but I'm afraid we are going to get some re-tread. Even though he is a defensive coach, I think he could do a lot better job fixing the offense than Lovie could do. Remember, Zim was the QB coach at Dallas before he became the DC, so it's not like he hasn't been involved offensively in the NFL.

O'Brien from Penn St, former coordinator/coach with New England among others, decides to return to Penn St, reported by Ess-pen. Why would you take a job anyways without a GM in place? A new GM may decide to can you and bring in his own guy after a couple of years. There is not security in the NFL. Glad Bill showed some loyalty to return to Penn St, where he belongs. Perhaps the NCAA will lessen the bite it put on the program and modify it's penalty against them for the crap that went on before Bill got there - it was a criminal matter, not a football only matter, don't penalize the alumni, students, community for something that moron did!

Surprised to hear Arizona is interested in Haley. Just don't know what he has done to warrant consideration for another head job.
