Along this line, can anyone explain why a multi-billion dollar operation like the NFL does not have full time refs? Most all have day jobs. With all the nonsense calls you'd think you'd let these guys study film, review good/bad calls. I realize it would be a 6 mo job, and only on weekends (mostly), but c'mon. It would have to help the quality of ref'ing.

Now the Patriots get a screw job by the rigged refs
Yeah... cause the Pats are known for getting screwed by the rigged refs... and of course the Chiefs had so few penalties called against them in this game... [emoji849][emoji849][emoji849]

Most nfl referees are holding high integrity jobs like attorneys and doctors.

What they do is immaterial. I'd love to do it, but the commitment must be tough on family and primary job. I don't doubt their integrity, but I think you need refs dedicated to being refs. The intensity of an NFL game is draining. I would think that goes for refs also since they are under the microscope every week. Hard to imagine doing a game, then going back to work for a week, then doing it again. I would think prepping for the game they'll be doing in the upcoming week (studying film, etc) instead of their 9-5 would give more consistent results.

Oh well, it's just an opinion and a talking point. NFL has been doing it this way years, they won't change the model.

there x amount of full time refs already ..

I will seek the number..

The problem as have stated before is not only that there are not enough full time refs..

they are too old and too slow for a game played so fast now..

the NFL MUST CHANGE THEIR THINKING.

folks in the age group that can fly up and down that sidline make split second decisions and know the rules inside out.

have a full grasp of how the game is played now and not be afraid to make the call as they see it.

the New York upstairs eye in the sky once they see a stupid call overturn the call and move on..

the game can't live in the dark ages of men in the late 40's and into the 50's trying to keep up with this game. It just will not work...simple as that..Full time refs working year around the teams finding the best new positions to be in and this will get the game to a more pleasant experience for all .

The officials should have to meet with the media after each game so there?s some sort of accountability.

Good idea. I think the refs in KC/Pats game were flag happy. They must have picked up and retracted a half a dozen flags.
