Preseason 2-1 +0.84

Lovie has stated that this is the dress rehearsal as he wants to keep the starters in through 3 quarters to see how they perform with half-time adjustments. The starters will also be in there for the Saints, but the defense will be working on a 3-4 front to feature rookie Will Smith. A lot of scheme to still be in process at this stage.

The Saints are coming off a preseason game "where the Saints committed the majority of their 10 penalties for 75 yards in losses, dropped 10 passes and had more than 35 assignment errors, the highest total for any game since Coach Jim Haslett took over in 2000." You could chalk that all up to the preseason if it weren't for the fact that the Saints have done that throughout the past two regular seasons under Haslett.

With Brooks out, the Saints will be sending Bouman and J.T O'Sullivan out to face a Bears defense that has been opportunistic in both preseason games and the Saints quarterbacks will have to play behind a injury-riddled line.

I read the Bears game exactly as you. That offense still needs some work, I guess. 6-18 from Grossman isn't going to cut it in the regular season.

Watched the Cards last week and this week. Bet against them both times. They played with heart this time - but still that FG to give them the cover with 2 minutes left was baffling. Except for a short span with Collins, the Raiders looked out of sync and far from into the game. That defense has yet to look good.

Bears first team offense didn't do nearly the damage that I expected. It may be sour grapes, but it's preseason, Saints offense just got shut down twice at the one-inch line, next series it's first and goal from the one and they run a naked QB boot. Speaks volumes about the Saints OLine.
