Bears offense has promised a better performance, the problem without a line that can protect - it won't matter. Orton won't make as many unforced errors which should keep the 49ers on a long field

Bears D should be tougher this year as long as Tommie Harris and Mike Brown are healthy which means their run D will be stout

This game stays under as long as there's not an abundance of Special Team and defensive TDs

Shanahan hasn't been automatic in the preseason as he has been historically, but his former assistant, Kubiak has. Green Bay has shown no desire to win anything in the preseason.

Dallas and Houston are expected to play their starters through 3 quarters, but playing them and playing to win are two different things.

Cleveland playing their starters for 3 quarters and despite Anderson being down, Quinn looked comfortable with the first team against the Giants.

Detroit's taking a different look to this game.

So what's in store this year? The third exhibition is today against Cleveland.

The Lions' starters will play longer than they did in the first two exhibitions, but not as long as teams usually play their starters.

Key players like quarterback Jon Kitna and wide receivers Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams probably won't play a full half, only about 20-25 snaps.

"Injuries are such a significant part in these preseason games, we can't afford to get anybody hurt," offensive coordinator Jim Colletto said. "We're going to take a gamble and play a little bit more. They played only 10-12 snaps. They'll probably play 20.

"But normally the rule of thumb is play a whole half and start into the third quarter. We're not going to do that."

In Sunday night's exhibition at Cincinnati, the Lions watched star wide receiver Chad Johnson suffer a shoulder injury on the Bengals' fifth offensive snap.

"You see what happened to Chad Johnson happened right in the first series of the game," Colletto said. "I mean, you just don't know. So if we get through 20, 25 plays and everybody is going OK, regardless of what's going on, they're coming out."

The starting offensive line likely will play a little longer, perhaps the whole first half, as the Lions work on their new zone blocking scheme.

Cincy's starters are playing 3 Qtrs (as are the Saints) - but all of their skill position starters are out save for Palmer. Attacking the Saints weaknesses in their defensive backfield won't be as easy.

New Orleans -2.5

Also . . .

Carolina -3 (-115)
