NFL Question

Jack may move this to the Gen forum but I wanted to ask
it in here first .

I was watching a NFL game last week and it showed that the coach could communicate to the QB over earphones in the QB's helmet.

I think they call the play in and then the ear pieces are turned off by a official upstairs.

In our technology age whats to keep someone from tapping the line and telling the QB on field instructions from the upstairs booth ?

Or what would keep someone from putting another earpiece in other players helmets ?

Any thoughts appreciated as this has bothered me some.

i know what you mean.

my best guess is:

a) maintaining the integrity of the game

and

b) with the amount of roster turnover in this day and age of the
nfl (guys changing teams so much), if one coach or coordinator was rumored to do it, hed be ratted out and would probably be disciplined in a big way

ostensibly, i totally know what you mean. hard not think wonder what stops people from tryin stuff.

but i think the repurcussions are too great and the integrity of the game comes into play

Lets just say for a minute that I could put a earpiece in
Warren Sapps ear so I could talk to him while I am in the booth upstairs.


The conversation might go something like this.


KOD - Hey Sapp are you ready ?

Sapp- Yeh I am ready .

KOD - OK here comes the play,,,, left left left , running play !, slot four get over there Sapp.

Sapp - KOD dont start no shit just tell me what I need to know.

KOD - OK

KOD - Hey Sapp you run pretty fast for being such a wide load.

Sapp - KOD I am going to kill you. !

KOD - After the game Warren, after the game.

So Sapp goes on to have the best game of his life.

Could this happen ? nawww....

the integrity of the game will keep that from ever happening.
