Nfl Week One Picks

Eagles-3.5 Texans
Titans-2.5 Jets
Packers+3.5 Bears

The NY Jets are in serious rebuilding mode.
Curtis Martin is out. No Kevin Mawae, or John Abraham. The Defense is switching to a 3-4 this year and thier personnel may not match that scheme yet. Olhoffen was a good pickup and can play the DE position well. Ellis has size enough to play there but his pass rushing may be neutralized as he will be asked to be more of a run defender. The problem is Robertson who has never played the nose before. For the Jets to succeed he will have to be able to take up some blockers. Kevin Mawae who is now a Titan will be matched up against him. If Robertson gets Pushed
around, look for for Vilma to get swallowed up by the run. Remember when Baltimore switched to the 3-4 and Ray lewis became less
efective? Look for the same problems for J. Vilma who is more of a run and chase type linebacker and not as good at taking on blocks. Brain Thomas will finally get on the field after switching from DE. He may be a liability if he is asked to cover Kinney or Troupe, who are nice receivers.
One problem for tenn is they havent decided on a starting QB yet. Maybe this causes the Jets to have to prepare diferently for both Young and Collins who have different skill sets.

Offensivley the Jets are the worst in the league.
Pennington's arm. A rebuilt offensive line and lack
of a good running back will be the demise of the Jets this year. For tennesee Haynesworth should be stout against the run. and Bullock and Thornton will be able to clean up any mistakes up front. Recieving game looks like a push
between the jets Wideouts and Titans DBs but if NYJ can not establish a ground attack then Tenn can pin their ears back against a weak Jets Oline.

Eagles are a much more sound team than the Texans. Houston will go with the denver style West coast offense with zone scheme ground attack. In the long run they will be much improved but they dont have the kind of players they need up front to be effective at it yet. Also a lack of a proven running back will hold them back. Lundy and Morency dont scare any defenses. Philly has a healthy team to start
the season and will back back to the team they had in 2003 and 2004 Their D line is maybe he deepest in the league and should provide a lot of fresh pass rushers to get at the often
sacked Carr. Trotter is a beast in the middle and the Eagles D-backs stack up well against Moulds and Johnson. Look for the eagles offense to be explosive again llike it was before all the injuries last year. Even without Owens the eagles till have multiple weapons. Stallworth and Westbrook are
threats to take it to the house from anywhere. The texans just do not match up well against the eagles or anyone else on Defense. D. Robinson is the only bright spot on an otherwise
average to below average defense. Rookie M. Williams will be a great player but he will need help.

The Bears are phony. they will not repeat as Division champs this year. Their defense would not have been as good had they not played 6
games against the NFC north. Not that they arent good just overrated. Offensivley they have nothing...except for grossman. Packers should bounce back this year . green will be back from injury. Packers still have Driver , favre, franks, ferguson, who at one time formed a great offense. the problem now is the offensive line... and favre's decision making.
Packers need this game and favre is such a competitor they will keep it close, and win outright if Favre doent throw any picks
He cant throw as many as he did last year. 2nd most ever I think Only the great Vinny Testeverde threw more in a season, for the Queer Helmeted Buccaneers

Will be ading one more Detroit +6

I will wait until gametime to make play to see if line moves up any more and might buy it to 7.

I cant believe the line opened up at 3.5. They must think Det can keep it close.

With their new coaching staff especially martz they should do well, Kitna is a big plus over Harrington, and Roy williams should have a break out year.

Stevens is out for Sea, and losing Hutchinson will affect thuer running game.

Also dont forget the super bowl loser hangover.
