Favorites rumbled to a 10-3-1 ATS record this past weekend. Home teams also bagged the green in 10 of this week?s games, and adding to the books? horror, over players sang to the tune of a 9-4-1 mark.

Score one for Joe Public.

Atlanta 34 at New Orleans 31 (5 ? / 44)

It?s true that the Saints are virtually unpredictable this season, but it?s also true that they?ve covered both games under the roof of the Alamodome. Next week they hit the road against the cash-fumbling Rams in a game that might just be too close to call.

Carolina 21 at Detroit 20 (2 ? / 41)

If there was ever an example of how important it is to shop your lines, this game might have been it. Detroit opened as a single-point favorite and closed as a 2 ?-point underdog. The total closed anywhere from 39 ? to 41 ?.

You figure out the rest.

Cincinnati 31 at Tennessee 23 (3 / 47)

The Bengals continue to run away with the cash at 4-1-1 ATS on the season. They also hold a two-game lead over the Steelers in the AFC North and face off against the Steelers next week.

Cleveland 3 at Baltimore 16 (-6 / 34)

The Ravens are back. Or perhaps the Browns? true colors are finally shining through. At this point, who knows?

Jacksonville 23 at Pittsburgh 17 (-3 / 33)

Steelers fans are anxious for the return of Big Ben after journeyman pivot Tommy Maddox fumbled in the red zone in this overtime loss. A date at division-leading Cincinnati looms on deck for the black and gold, who have already topped last year?s season loss total.

Miami 13 at Tampa Bay 27 (-3 / 35)

The Fins slip to 0-3 (SU and ATS) away from home. Tampa heads into their bye week at 5-1 (3-3 ATS) and return in two weeks to play the hapless Niners.

Minnesota 3 Chicago 28 (-3 / 37)

Maybe the Vikings (1-4 SU/ATS) should return to the water, where apparently they have a much easier time of scoring. A win this week would?ve eased a lot of tension in Minnesota, but instead, a blowout loss to a Bears (2-3 SU, 3-2 ATS) team that averaged 15 ?-points per game? Oh my.

NY Giants 13 at Dallas 16 (-3 / 47)

The Giants are night and day when playing at home versus on the road. In two highway games this season, the G-Men are 0-1-1 ATS and putting up just 18-points per game. Lucky for their supporters they now return home for a pair. The bad news is they?ll be facing the Broncos and Redskins.

Washington 21 at Kansas City 28 (-6 / 42 ?)

The Redskins dropped the cash for the first time since Week 2, but.on a positive note, they did put up a season-high 21 against the supposedly ?revamped? defense of the Chiefs. In fact, the over has now turned out in each of Washington?s last three games.

New England 20 at Denver 28 (-3 / 47)

Last week in this column I stated that the Patriots were money as underdogs. This week I chew on foot.

The Broncos have quietly put together a five-game win streak, cashing at a 3-1-1 ATS clip along the way. New England has been hit for at least 20-points per game this season, four times yielding 27 or more. That said, the over is 5-0-1 in Pats? games this season.

NY Jets 17 at Buffalo 27 (-3 / 33)

I think Michael Irvin put it best on the pregame show when he wondered aloud how Vinny would perform on six days rest, as opposed to six months. I guess we got our answer.

The Jets are scoring 13 points per game and now travel to Atlanta to face Michael Vick and the Falcons on Monday night.

San Diego 27 at Oakland 14 (2 / 51)

The Raiders are in double trouble. Not only are they a bad team, but they also have to face one of the toughest schedules in the league. Offensively, the silver and black have yet to top 20 points, and the under has appeared in all but one Raiders game.

Houston 10 at Seattle 42 (-9 ? / 44)

The Texans had a chance to save face in this Sunday nighter at Seattle. Bad teams don?t normally answer the bell and that was the case here as Houston was humiliated in front of the entire universe.

The Houston fade train has now officially left the station. It?s also picking up steam as the Texans slip to 1-4 ATS, and 2-7 ATS including preseason. The four regular season spread losses came by a shocking 63 points!

St. Louis at Indianapolis (-14 / 51)

Marc Bulger blew out his shoulder. The Rams then quickly blew a 17-0 lead. St. Louis slips to a cash-burning 1-5 ATS and the Colts covered at home for the first time this season. The over is also 5-1 when the Rams take the field.
