Homefield advantage is determined first by head-to-head records, then by the higher winning percentage in intradivision games. If a further tie-breaker is needed it's the best winning percentage in the last half of intraleague games.

The same format will be used if two teams tie for the division and also tie for both available wild card spots. The two division teams would play each other on Monday with the winner being named division champion and the loser meeting the other team in the Wild Card playoff.

It's also possible that two additional games could be needed before the playoff teams are seeded. In that case, they would tentatively be played on Monday and Tuesday. Here's a summary of the possibilities:

Determining Home-Field Advantage in Two-Team Tiebreakers

1. Head-to-head winning percentage during the 2013 regular season.
2. Higher winning percentage in intradivision games.
3. Higher winning percentage in intraleague games.
4. Higher winning percentage in the last half of intraleague games.
5. Higher winning percentage in the last half plus one intraleague game, provided that such additional game was not between the two tied clubs. Continue to go back one intraleague game at a time until the tie has been broken.

8-8 going into this weekend! BUCS fucked up today. Would have only needed one. Now they need 2 to get the home game.

If the Bucs would of won today they would still need to win 2/3 this weekend.

1 out of 3 if they won yesterday! Choked!!!

they played the Cubs yesterday not the Reds. You said the head to head between them was 8-8 with 3 games left this weekend. So whoever wins 2 games this weekend will be the home team for the wild card Monday.

Are you talking about catching the Cards for 1st place?

If the bucs won they would have been up 2 games on the reds with 3 to play. They win one game this weekend they would win home field regardless of results in other two games and losing season series would not matter at that point.:toast:

I thought the 1st tiebreaker was head to head between the Reds and Pirates. So if that's the case then it doesn't matter who has the better record correct?

Or does the team with the better record get home team and the tiebreaker only goes into effect if the teams ties with the same record?

Pitt has a one game lead on the Reds. If the Reds win 2/3 they would have same record then head to head would go into effect correct? Head to head would be Reds 10-9.

Yes but the previous poster (lee) was referring to us blowing a chance yesterday to go 2 up on the reds going into this weekend, essentially meaning 1 win this weekend is all that would be needed to take top WC slot

Home team likely to win between Reds/Bucs and they in turn will play team with best overall record, right now ST Louie is leading by a game over Hotlanta!! Atlanta resting several players but are not real deep and playing flat the last 7 games, Screwers took 2 easily from them, first to clinch division could be first outsted in post-season!!

Dodgers deep in pitching and with Hanley back with Kemp, Dodgers will be tough to beat.

I hope Bucs to get the WS this year. I grew up watching them with Roberto, the same year he died in the plane crash going to give aid/care, was a sad day for me, second worse day was when Thurman Munson died in a plane crash!!

GO BUCS!!

If Pirates have a better record then they have homefield for the WC. Head to head only matters if they are tied in the standings.
