No controversy here: J.T. Barrett is No. 1 QB at Ohio State

What a difference a year makes. A year ago Ohio State was coming off a national championship with three viable options to be the starting quarterback in the fall between Braxton Miller (coming back from a season-long injury), Cardale Jones (who fueled the postseason run) and J.T. Barrett (who emerged in 2014 until suffering a season-ending injury against Michigan). Urban Meyer was thought to be unable to wrong with any of the three, but ultimately let the indecision drag on into the 2015 season. As fate would have it, Barrett would later become the answer at quarterback for the Buckeyes. Now, this spring, Barrett is without a doubt the only option at quarterback.

?You know,? Mickey Marotti, the team?s director of performance, said in a story published by The Columbus Dispatch. ?You know he?s the quarterback, he?s going to be the guy. ? There?s no question about it.?

Knowing who the starting quarterback in the fall at this time of year can be a nice perk for a program. It is one many teams wish they could have right now, but it is also one that should lead to some more consistency within the Buckeyes offense. As Barrett notes, players have a quarterback they know they can go to to talk about plays and the offense, knowing who will be leading them on the field in the fall.

?It gives the young guys someone to go to, someone who has been there, out on the field and has done the work,? said Barrett. A year ago players did not know if it would be Jones or Barrett (Miller was making a move to wide receiver).

Barrett appeared in 11 games, although a handful of those were in a backup or alternating role alongside Jones before he took full primary control of the offense later in the year. Barrett finished his 2015 season with 11 passing touchdowns to four interceptions and 11 rushing touchdowns. He has proven to be quite the valuable offensive threat in the Ohio State offense, and with Ezekiel Elliott also on the move to the NFL this season, he could be expected to carry the load many times this season.

OSU loses a ton on "D".

And some very good skills on OL and core group of scorers.

I hope JT learns how to scramble in spring game!!
