Chris Myers took a shot at the people of New Orleans and then apologized. He told the truth even if it hurts some to hear.
Living in Houston, I was living proof of the abuse the people of New Orleans put on FEMA and Red Cross which killed the way FEMA handled all disasters after that.
Now FEMA is clearly to blame as well, but when you see people using the cash given to go on shopping sprees and think stick the hand out again once it is gone is just silly.
New Orleans is still a mess in many parts. Mississippi bounced back quickly as did Beaumont(Rita) and Galveston(Ike) and neither got much if any help from FEMA other than food and water. I know because I lived it.
3 different FEMA guys came out and saw my damage and said that I was screwed because of policy changes do to Katrina victims ripping them off.
I can't tell you how many FEMA issued cards I saw come into my store throwing money around on meaningless crap.
