So I'm curious, are they the best? I just bought a new HP laptop today and need to protect it obviously. What do you all use and what do you think about it. Sounds like 1 year of Norton costs 50 bucks. Thoughts

I use AVG Free Edition for virus protection, and I've never had any problems. A good program for spyware protection is Malwarebytes. This is just my opinion, but I don't think it's necessary to pay for good antivirus/antispyware. There are plenty of free programs out there that do the job.

I've never used an anti virus and only had one virus in all my years of having a computer. I swear the anti virus companies are the ones that allow it happen so they can be in business.

That is like not having health insurance for you.

I have made 3.5k in the last 3 weeks on some biz people who have had multiple viruses and lost all their data.

CCleaner
Windows System Care
Avast

All free. Got rid of Norton and started using these three and haven't had a problem.

No expert here by any stretch.
I used Panda in 08, Norton in 09 and am using trend micro now. All three protected me, as I have been incident free......
