Screamin Pain brought back some lessons learned long ago. Legal touts used to rent facilities off track, to hopefully sell their services. It was very expensive and other than goodwill, not very profitable and with the advent of the Internet, they had to redirect their budgets.
Anyhoo, they would bring a trainer, a jockey in costume and maybe an owner to cap the day's card. As SP said, always good for a winner or two.
I came away with the knowledge that trainers are good cappers, jockeys are good only relative to the horses they are riding(Geo Wolff and Eddie Belmonte) old timers. Eddie Delahoussey and Lafitte Pincay pretty much knew the night before if their mounts had a chance. Touters use percentages ie: Mdn Spec Allowance avg. 55% IM, cheap claimers 22-32% etc.
Every owner swears he has the winner. They listen to the wrong end of the horse
Enough of this yawner
