wont be here during the day so i'll start another thread with mon notes that i come across........

Rangers
With the Rangers in a stretch of 34 consecutive games, manager Jerry Narron said catcher Ivan Rodriguez would get the day off Monday afternoon against Baltimore. Narron was also discussing a complete off day for first baseman Rafael Palmeiro, who has played started in some capacity in every game since June 14. If he plays every game the rest of the way, Palmeiro will have played at least 155 games in each of the last nine full seasons. ... Not surprisingly, shortstop Alex Rodriguez was chosen Rangers Player of the Month for August. Rodriguez hit .339 with 12 homers and 27 RBIs. It's the fourth time in five months he's won the award.

Astros- here is box score from Jeriome Robertson's last trip a start...

some comments from him on his last start,

"It was the first victory for Robertson (12-8) since Aug. 3. He had two no-decisions and two losses in his past four starts, and decided to change his style of pitching Wednesday.

"I used my fastball a lot tonight, probably more so than other nights," Robertson said. "I was changing speeds a little bit with the fastball and used my sinker quite a bit to the outer part of the plate. I was getting a lot of groundball outs. They were getting under them, popping them up, which is normally what you don't want with a sinker.

"But they weren't getting the good part of the bat on the ball. So working my fastball and changeup was pretty effective for me tonight."
Robertson got nine outs on fly balls, and four on strikeouts. He left for a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning.

"Jeriome's pitched a ton of innings this year, more than he's ever pitched," Zephyrs manager Chris Maloney said. "After the seventh, I thought he was getting the ball up a little bit. He lost a little command, I thought. We've got a fresh pen, so we shot them."

again in my notes thread from sunday, there is a little about him, not overpowering 6'1'' 190, 24th rounder from '95 draft....
another article on him being selected pcl pitcher of yr...

doubt i'll play this one, UT (funny thing though, tonight you could call the ranger ticket office and get 4 free seats for this game(and a free parking voucher)..too many unknowns, first mlb start for robertson. plus i dont know if they will have a new ump crew come in or what they will do for this one game...i usually like to know the home plate ump before i make a wager, Rangers just got swept by the friggin d-rays and although chan ho has been better lately, besides francisco cordero, their bullpen scares the living bejesus out of me...also no pudge or palmeiro is a viable possibility

for the stros, dotel has gotta be out tomorrow, he threw 2 innings and 31 pitches, so move gordon and stone, borbon for lefties into the setup role i would imagine..

i think left-handed pitchers have an advantage at the ballpark in that it doesnt take much to get it out to right and the wind seems to help in that direction also.(why palmeiro has 38 this season and a-rod has so many b/c he's so good at staying back and driving it in the jet stream into the right field stands, also why i think they got hollandsworth, to see if he could get the job done and take advantage of the shorter porch) left field is farther and has a higher fence so that helps robertson in my opinion.

wish i knew the ump, robertson definitely will be pumped, i'm sure all those rangers heading home right now are really pumped about getting up at 9 or so and heading right back to the park..
