at the beginning of the season, not many people thought new york would be in this spot. but here they are....one game away from the world series. theyve overcome lots of adversity and could have folded the tent a few months ago -- but they persevered and theyre better because of their struggles. unlike other sports who have assembled all-star talent and have paid out exorbitant salaries (see: los angeles lakers, detroit red wings, philadelphia eagles), its refreshing to see a team do it "the right way". this yanks squad is a great example of everything thats right about baseball. they play hard. the play within the rules. and they play the game the right way. and theyre a diverse team. they could have overpaid a homegrown american athlete, but they were willing to take a chance on a little known slugger from japan who dreamed as a young boy of playing for one of the worlds most respected franchises -- the boston red sox. but he was willing to take less money to try and build up the yankees squad to in hopes that the yanks might be able to take down the mighty sox in a playoff series sometime.

well that sometime is now. i think the yanks rise up against all odds... against everyone who discounted them and said what theyre doing is a fluke.

i think new york shocks the world.

new york yankees (-165) over boston :scared
