What about this for a solution---

Find as many replacements from N.O. transit system as you can--Precede to put them to work and fire the NY people they replace--after anouncing intentions believe there will be many throw down those picket signs. However those initially fired and any that do not return--stay fired.

Results twofold--put N.O. skilled people back to work--and make next public worker think twice about strike next time.

"the bunker"
i`m a tad shocked at this.....the strategy....the cost to n.y......

at christmas time...costing the city as much as 400 million a day reportedly?....

an 8% a year raise for 3 years running?....retirement at 50?....55`s not good enough?....

for bus drivers that are making 61 thou a year?....i know n.y. is expensive...but 61 k is a decent wage..for a fricking bus driver...or a conductor...

and 3.5 pecent a year isn`t a sharp stick in the eye...

c`mon...that`s not realistic...

where`s dutch when you need him?...bring back some retirees......let the managers help out...fire the lot...and hire some new people...

this is a joke...and is akin to spitting in the face of the people these clown`s work for....

their fellow citizens....

Just like the Katrina situation (levees), I feel that the city itself holds the biggest blame for this because of their monopoly hold on public transportation in the city. If there was ANY competition to be had the union would not have this much power. Then the secondary blame should be placed on the union for structuring their demands in that fashion. That is ludicrous.

**** the union demands.

I like the creativity by DTB. Is that an original? Nice one!

I like the idea also. It's basically what Reagan did to solve the Air Traffic Controllers strike back in the 80's and it worked like a charm.

So would Bush have the power to do this in the current situation?

I don't really know, since it's not a federal issue. I tend to think that he does not, but maybe the mayor or governor does?

i feel bad for the people who have to travel into manhattan to work....

i remember a transit strike years ago & remember how almost impossible it was in driving your car into the city during the strike.....it's probably quicker to park your car outside the city & walk into manhattan...

the president can't get involved in the strike....i believe that it's up to the mayor to settle this....

All this Kosar and you support a guy who thinks it should be o.k. for a parent to murder its child up to the childs first birthday.

Hey lost in space Larry, wtf does this thread(or any other for that matter) have to do with someone who posts on another board?

What does my quote regarding the transit strike have to do with anything that you're babbling about.

Try to process this: I have never supported his comment about thinking it's ok to kill a baby up until his/her first birthday. I do not agree with that concept. Got it?

I barely interact on the forum with the poster you refer to, if at all.

Why are we even discussing this?

Because you use two of my quotes the others in here ought to know reguardless of what room it is in the kind of person you endorse.

Endorse? You confuse me, Larry. I posted above that I (obviously) disagree with his comments about infanticide.

See, unlike many here, including yourself, I try to judge each issue and each comment on it's own merit, without regard to politics.

People like yourself rubberstamp any notion advanced by Bush & co. without regard to reason or common sense.
