OAKLAND: RHP Erik Hiljus will be called up from Triple-A Sacramento and will make his first start for the A's on Saturday night against Texas. Hiljus compiled an 8-5 record with a 3.63 ERA in 15 starts for Sacramento, Oakland's top farm club. He appeared in three games for Detroit last season and was signed by the A's to a minor league contract on Dec. 1, 2000. His last major league appearance came last season on July 28 for the Tigers at Arlington. ... Hiljus will take the rotation spot of struggling Gil Heredia, 0-3 with a 12.46 ERA against the Rangers this season.
