Hey there must be reasons to take a stand on a side and lay your hard earned money down!!!! So here is mine. First of all thank goodness there was only a week hiatus before the start of this Superbowl because I was getting awfully tired of seeing Gruden's and Sapp's face on tv all week. That being said lets get down to the nitty gritty.
Tampa Bay Thoughts
Yes Tampa bay has the #1 defense and certainly they deserve all the credit they are getting. But lets look at the playoff games they won. They beat a SanFranciso team that was physically and emotionally drained and only had one decent wide reciever to worry about. Then they beat Philadelphia who had a quarterback that still had a large amount of rust on him and not to mention they really had no upper echelon wide recievers to worry about either. I remember watching a game when Tampa played Pittsburgh and a QB by the name of Tommy Maddox threw for over 230 yards because he had 2 quality recievers. I am not knocking the Tampas defensive accomplishments I am just stating they havent faced a team all year with the trio of quality recievers that Oakland has, not to mention the outstanding catching ability of Charlie Garner they will have to contend with also.
As for Tampa Bays offense it is no doubt better than what they used to have but lets face it they are no Offensive juggernault. The offensive line is improving but nothing special. Alstott and Pittman certainly do not strike fear in the eyes of any defense. As for the wide recievers Keyshawn Johnson is a star wide reciever but Jerevicious and McCardell do not match up well with Oaklands defensive backs. So essentially Oakland has only Johnson to be overly concerned with. Yes Yes Brad Johnson is the only QB Tampa has got that can run this offense but watch out if he gets a jarring hit by a Raiders lineman and goes out of the game. You can already tell I dont like Tampa cant You!!!!!!! On to the Raiders.
Oakland Raiders Thoughts
Now we come the the Raiders. Who did they beat in the Playoffs only the 2 hottest teams in the NFL in the Jets and The Titans. Nuff said!!!!! Oh not to mention they held the Jets to just 10 points. Now we get to the NFL's number 1 offense. I believe they have 3 or should I say 4 quality recievers including Garner who had 91 receptions and 941 yards recieving this year. Oh I forgot didnt their QB Gannon win the leagues MVP this year. Oakland has an Offensive line that is the biggest in the NFL and who cares about Tampa Bays defensive speed by the time they get there the ball will be gone anyway. Tampa can sit back in their cover 2 defense and watch Gannon pick them apart and if they go man to man Gannon will kill them with the long ball and deep crossing patterns with his Trio of super quality recievers oops forgot Garner again make that 4 super quality recievers. Oh yes forgot to mention the battering ram of Zack Crockett and the blocking abilities of FB Jon Ritchie. And I personally think Oaklands defense is peaking at the right time.
After all my bantering its easy to see who I like .
Betting OAKLAND and will chip off the hook if it stays at 3.5.
