Recent polling is trending toward DEM Barack Obama. Not only are some states like Virginia and North Carolina tight, but check out the new numbers out from Qunnipiac Polling Institute for the huge swing states of Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania.

Florida: Obama leads McCain 47-43 (May Quinnipiac, McCain led by 4, Obama +9)

Ohio: Obama leads McCain 48-42 (May Quinnipiac, McCain led by 4, Obama +9)

Pennsylvania: Obama leads McCain 52-40 (May Quinnipiac, Obama ledby 6, Obama +6)

Now, other pollsters, such as Rasmussen and Survey USA will likely release similar polls, state wise this week, so we will see what those numbers say, but Quinnipiac has tremendous respect, especially for their polling in huge swing states. The Quinnipiac poll for Ohio seems to confirm an earlier poll out by Publlci Policy Polling that showed Obama with a 50-39 lead in Ohio. No, Quinnipiac is not showing a 11 point lead, but they are showing a 6 point lead and both polls are confirming that Ohio is trending to Obama.

These numbers are show what we here at 3BD have been saying, don?t count on Pennsylvania being a swing state. Given its recent voting history (Kerry, Gore, Clinton, and Clinton), the fact that Pennsylvania is among oneofo the top states effected by Iraq, the fact that the PA economy is lagging, and the fact that the Governor is Edward Rendell (like him or not) and Rendell will be able to use that vaunted political machine it used for Hillary Clinton in the primary, Pennsylvania is a blue state and I don?t see this even approaching Battleground status. Recent polling has proven it. Out of the last 6 to 7 PA polls, Obvama has leads ranging from 6 to now 12 in PA.

AS for Florida, I thought this was a bit of a shocker, showing Obama up 5. I think the more McCain hits that oil drilling, the larger that lead may grow. It may be a popular item for McCain to spout off nationally, but he may lose Florida because of it. This is the first poll to show a shift to Obama in Florida. Also gives credence to the argument that the media portrayed problems, such as hispanics voting or Obama, were just plain wrong.

UPDATE: American Research Group releases its Florida poll that indeed does confirm that Florida is now for Obama. The ARG poll registers an Obama Florida lead at 49-44.

"the bunker"
now theres really important information in june....and considering you always get a bump at the end of a primary....

rasmussen has it 45-42 overall....well within the mrgin of error...and mccain ahead in florida...

June 18..

"The Florida survey also found that McCain currently leads Obama in the state by a 47% to 39% margin. Six percent (6%) said they would vote for some other candidate while 8% are undecided.

However, after voters were told that McCain favored offshore drilling and Obama opposed it, McCain?s lead increased to eleven points, 49% to 38%. While a three-point net gain is not stunning, it is significant that the issue didn?t push voters towards Obama. All of McCain?s gains on the offshore drilling issue came from male voters. "

but again...in june,polls are fluff...

you need to get back to your bread and butter...troop deaths in iraq...

not quite as much "good news" on that front lately, you say?...

disappointed?.....well,let me hit you with the cluebat...that`s ACTUALLY good news....not for republicans...not for democrats...

for americans...and america...and the free world...

I agree it's June. However if Mc Cain is smart and would bring in Mitt as his running mate. His numbers will jump.

Obama bounce 15 point lead over McCain

Obama bounce 15 point lead over McCain

Barack finally has his bounce. For weeks many political experts and pollsters have been wondering why the race between Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain had stayed so tight, even after the Illinois senator wrested the nomination from Hillary Clinton. With numbers consistently showing rock-bottom approval ratings for President Bush and a large majority of Americans unhappy with the country's direction, the opposing-party candidate should, in the normal course, have attracted more disaffected voters. Now it looks as if Obama is doing just that. A new NEWSWEEK Poll shows that he has a substantial double-digit lead, 51 percent to 36 percent, over McCain among registered voters nationwide.

This is NewsWeek only no other polls go this high. So they better not believe this to much. He is ahead but most believe by 6 points only.
