He makes the comment that due to the worsening recession, which is a worse scenario than he had planned on, that he won't be able to go forward with everything he had hoped to do ON THE PACE THAT HE HAD HOPED TO DO IT, and that is considered a lie by a conservative lapdog.

Interesting thread...

As a Conservative, I would presume you would be happy he wasn't going to be able to act on all of his plans, but I guess it's easier just to rip him with a fabricated comment. Carry on.

As he should... He knew things were bad but politics are just that and he did not get elected by the base.. He was elected as all American Presidents are in close races, by Middle America. Obama is playing all the right cards, leaning away from the left/base... He does it again here :http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/12/us/politics/12inquire.html?ref=todayspaper... His campaign and the period before the inauguration has been text book leadership to unite the country.... He's not playing to the ass holes in washington.... Piss of the far left, his so called base, throw the wackos on the right a bone and take your case to the reasonable... MIDDLE AMERICA ! REAGAN DID IT !!! & IT WORKED !!! OBAMA IS SITTING IN THE CAT BIRD SEAT... bush/cheney left him right where he wants to be.....If you believe in yourself, what better way to start... I don't think we can get closer to the bottom !!! There is no where to go but up !!! Without bush/cheney there may have NEVER BEEN OBAMA !! The ironicy of Obama; born & bread, deep in the bowels of the right wing of the rebublican party... You can't make it up .... I have to throw this in for DTB....:mj07: :toast: :mj06:  :mj07: :00hour :00hour :00hour

He is nothing more than a Chicago thug politician, now he is going to run the US. I hope he gets nothing accomplished he sat out to do from the beginning, you think it is bad now just wait.

Obama proves every time he opens his mouth that he is a remarkable man and leader. All you all's naysaying will only hold our country back trying to regain our way. But, we will carry you all kicking and screaming if we have to :toast:

IMHO....FWIW...

The difference between hedge and some others here - and elsewhere - is that he seriously hopes we do poorly as a country because Obama is the President. No measure of intellectual discussion or reasoning will ever change that, IMHO, FWIW.

I have been wrong many times in my life about our country and politicians. I was decidedly negative about younger Bush when he was awarded the Presidency, so I can get the initial negative tint to the coming years. But the juvenile (IMHO, FWIW) comments going on with a few here are not (IMHO, FWIW) worthy of genuine discourse and merit.

These few people are the same people accusing anyone not subscribing completely to conservative themes and backing republican leaders as being unpatriotic and terror sympathizers. This seemingly, for a few, will never change, and will seem like the "right" way to look at things.

IMHO, FWIW.

I have been pleasantly surprised by his change in rhetoric if he just follows through when in office.

With huge majority in congress he had open ticket to move to extreme left--and has moved to middle for most part instead.

If he opts to continue with policies that have made us safe and throws Gore and groupies under the bus I may vote for him myself next time.

If he cuts intelligence or does away with techniques that have kept us safe--he's cooked.
Hopefully he is smart enough not to cater to the crowd--that whined after 911 "why didn't the gov see this coming and protect us"--and when they do find ways--then whine again about the techniques that rectified what they were whining about in the 1st place..

On Gores cronies--I think this will surely be one he puts off for the sake of avoiding economic suicide--while pacifying the left in letting them think it's still on table at some point in time.

--I think it will be interesting in what develops once he takes office. No doubt that he has talked to those that have sat him down and explained the pre election hope/change rhetoic sounded good and served the purpose but now is time to get practical and he agrees.

The question is will he stick to principals or bend to the presure from the left--time will tell.

Poor Skulnik. He's gonna spend 8 years trying to prove Obama is Indonesian or Kenyan or Martian - Meanwhile the USA will enjoy a great resurgence. He's gonna miss the whole thing.:(
