Obamacare health insurance premium costs

This is fantastic news. The model predicts lower premiums for all.

Of course, that is based on 100% participation which spreads the risk among more people and therefore lowers the cost for all.

I'm sure that 100% participation figure will not follow the societal trends that reflect about 65% of Americans use some form of illegal drugs, 25% don't use mandated seat belts, 15% don't follow governmental rules regarding paying their taxes and, need I go on?

If you don't have 100% participation (which is the law) then how will the premiums be impacted? You can figure that out for yourself or feel free to post another article for the rest of us free-thinkers.

Sorry, azboob, but the premium rates are already set, regardless of participation.

Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, right? Lmao at you fool.

Sorry for my lapse...as we all know, premiums never go up...execpt for us employed folks who have seen both double digit increases in rates plus rising deductibles.

I'm willing to let this play out. I'm sure the IRS has it procedures in place since they are the Obamacare police.

Let's see what happens.

ObamaCare?s Going to Give It to California Good and Hard

Californians stand to pay huge health care increases next year thanks to ObamaCare. Raise your hand if you?re surprised. Yeah, me either.

If you?re a 25 year old male non-smoker, buying insurance for yourself, the cheapest plan on Obamacare?s exchanges is the catastrophic plan, which costs an average of $184 a month. (By ?average,? I mean the median monthly premium across California?s 19 insurance rating regions.)

The next cheapest plan, the ?bronze? comprehensive plan, costs $205 a month. But in 2013, on eHealthInsurance.com (NASDAQ:EHTH), the median cost of the five cheapest plans was only $92.

In other words, for the typical 25-year-old male non-smoking Californian, Obamacare will drive premiums up by between 100 and 123 percent.

Under Obamacare, only people under the age of 30 can participate in the slightly cheaper catastrophic plan. So if you?re 40, your cheapest option is the bronze plan. In California, the median price of a bronze plan for a 40-year-old male non-smoker will be $261.

But on eHealthInsurance, the median cost of the five cheapest plans was $121. That is, Obamacare will increase individual-market premiums by an average of 116 percent.

For both 25-year-olds and 40-year-olds, then, Californians under Obamacare who buy insurance for themselves will see their insurance premiums double.

ObamaCare: Even if you like your money, you can?t keep it.

I would love to know where a 40 year old non smoking man can get the premiums this guy is talking about. I think $260 is fair. I am currently paying that and have not found it any cheaper. This guy saying the median for that age group now is $121 or $132 IS JUST FALSE

Cheaper than dirt.

So much for the "Obamacare cost too much" jerkoffs :mj07:

Are you listening, azbob? :mj07:

Put down the kool-aid. I think you should look for a better source for information.

Besides his online contributions, Klein worked on Howard Dean's primary campaign in Vermont in 2003, and interned for the Washington Monthly in Washington, D.C. in 2004.

Klein frequently provides political commentary on MSNBC's The Rachel Maddow Show and Hardball with Chris Matthews. He is a former contributor to Countdown with Keith Olbermann.

Seems like he has a far view of riight and left points

Twenty year olds will soon realize they are required, by law, to buy health insurance.

That will be enforced by the IRS.

Premiums have been established for a risk pool considering 100% participation.

Take your pick on which one of these items will be a problem that the rest of us will have to pay for.

Why shouldn't 20 year olds have to pay for health insurance? They should! They have to have car insurance? People aren't bitching about that are they?

You buy car insurance, essentially, to cover people or automobiles that you harm from your driving.

That is why it is mandatory.

That is understandable but what I get from this is that people should only have to get health insurance when they hit a certain age? Never have to buy it? 99% of people are going to need it at some point? My opinion is every adult should have to contribute to health care in some way.

ok, Huckleberry...

Here's another link for you - with CHARTS even cuz I know you love those.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-06-02/obamacare-double-cost-insurance-average-californian

But here is an example for you, to show you how effective government actuaries really are:

In 1965, as Congress considered legislation to establish a national Medicare program, the House Ways and Means Committee estimated that the hospital insurance portion of the program, Part A, would cost about $9 billion annually by 1990.v Actual Part A spending in 1990 was $67 billion. The actuary who provided the original cost estimates acknowledged in 1994 that, even after conservatively discounting for the unexpectedly high inflation rates of the early ?70s and other factors, ?the actual [Part A] experience was 165% higher than the estimate.?

D'OH! Apply Duff - a job even YOU could do!!!

What! You back up the proven bogus Forbes crap with another reference to the bogus Forbes crap? And then you refer to 48 year old estimates for a different program?

And they aren't "government actuaries". They're firm quotes by insurers.

Get fucking lost. You wouldn't know the truth if it bit you on the ass.

BLATHER BLATHER BLATHER.

You are suck a joke, worshiping at the idol of Big Government.

Note to Duff: You may not want to believe this, but nothing the government gets involved with costs LESS. End of story.

Now, please excuse me. I'm going to go put on my tinfoil hat and try to absorb all the BLATHER abuse you send my way.

Wait...your hero Holder knew or did not know about the AP spying...? WHAT?

The IRS is targeting conservative groups and giving free passes to progressive groups....where is THIS FAIRNESS all you liberals talk about? Using the IRS for political means is tyrannical......or is that the definition of FAIR to a liberal? Can not win the argument so they must use strong arm tactics? Sound familiar - like Hitler and Stalin and Marx.

Should we continue with Benghazi or the EPA or 'secret' government email addresses that are 'immune' to FOIA?

You get lost, you worthless turd.

This thread was about Obamacare premiums, however since you got your ass kicked on the bogus Forbes claims, you have chosen to change the subject.

Chickenshit.

Nothing the g'mint does costs less? Really? Who buys health care at a lower cost than Medicare? NO one.

My "hero" Holder? 'scuse me, but when have I ever mentioned Holder in any way? Never. That's two down for you.

I don't give a shit who the IRS targets for investigation.. Have they prosecuted anyone? Has any tea party group been found in violation. NO. Whine elsewhere. Three strikes, you're out.

Hitler, Stalin and Marx? Been listening to Glen Beck again? Maybe he'll lend you one of his Nazi outfits.

Bengazi? Terrorists attacked an embassy.. End of story.

Say, do you really use Rush Limbaugh as jerkoff material?
