Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
I am a Sci fi movie geek,
probably seen every one made since "Forbidden Planet" circa 1956.

Anyhow, in this original "Oblivion" set in late 21st century, earth has been ravaged by war with Aliens, the moon blown to bits, (huge chunks are still in orbit) human survivors have been relocated to "Titan" ( a moon of Saturn.)

Tom Cruise is a technician maintaining drones that hunt aliens and protects the vast fusion power plants that suck up oceans and supply power to "Titan" and the survivors.
Tom Cruise has had his memory wiped as a security measure in case of capture.
Only in Tom's case, he has visions of Earth as it was. He has a lake cabin, Yankee Ball Cap, listens to Led Zepellen and reads books.

Tom and his female co-worker live on a high tech repair station above the clouds; complete with a glass swimming pool and are 2 weeks from returning to "Titan."

The movie is a story of discovery, Tom Cruise (with typical lack of serious emotion) is near perfect for the part.
As a viewer, you join his journey of discovery as to the real truth.

I am pretty good at figuring out endings of Sci-Fi movies.
This movie "Oblivion" fooled me badly, I watched the story unfurl like a kid viewing very first sci-fi movie. I never had a clue where it was going to end up.....till the verry end.

I gave it a solid 2 thumbs up...:0008

I want to see Oblivion in spite of Tom Cruise.

What about Science Fiction on TV?
Anyone watching Defiance, the new show on SYFY? Lots of hype surrounding it, but I found it a bit average.

My wife and I view it last weekend and really liked it. Very well made with great graphic's and some suspense thrown in. 2 Thumbs up from this movie hound. We loved it.
