4th and short 40 seconds left.....run the clock down and kick tying FG. First the bonehead penalty that negated the 3rd down conversion was bad enough. But if you are just going to run the clock down....why not line-up and try to draw the offside. What have you got to lose....it does work the odd time. Michigan would think that they may be indeed going for a 1st down....then for the TD and the win....as I'm sure a lot of us were thinking it too. It is an absolute no-brainer, if they don't jump ya call your time-out and then kick. Sheesh what a nightmare if you backed VT tonight.

I had em ml to close out a wtf parlay and pushed on 2 reamer making it a single. If va tech wins I make 1600! Haven't been able to quit thinking about it
I seldom watch complete games and Va Tech's coaching decisions and execution is why. I knew I was done when David Wilson looked like he was ready to run the wrong way in the first quarter. :shrug:
last drive was not the deciding factor; what killed them from winning the game straight up was shitty call to try and block the punt with 4:00 to go in 1st half and up 6-0. would have had ball around the 40 or 50 and worse they could be was up 6-0, 9-0, or 13-0 at half and getting ball 2nd half and also in complete control of game; because of stupid call they were down 10-6 at half. some of these coaches decisions fucking amaze me.
It was one of those games you could point to 5 or 6 reasons why they lost the game and all great reasons. I'm getting used to seeing stupid coaching decisions in bowl games this year but more surprised to see it from Beamer. The fake punt was a killer too!
