ESPN was reporting that UCLA may let Ben Howland go!! What a travesty that would be, although his teams have been rather anemic of late, his kids play hard and get to the post season and the Pac whatever is more of a parity league now than it used to be.

USC interviewed many candidates and still no decision, hmmm, No Jamie Dixon, No Tim Floyd? Perhaps USC will reach out to an ex-NBA guy? Remember they had Bibby for a bit and did squat. Pat Haden wants a winning program and rumor has it he is waiting on Duke/Creighton game to be over with, Duke assistants in demand and one rumor is Northwestern seeking Collins, however, Coach "K" and the admin at Duke do not want any of their coaches talking to other programs until the NCAA tourney is done!!

Florida State said to be hanging onto Hamilton until Wiggins, Top 5 recruit, decides where he will go, right now Wiggy is leaning no where special, Kentucky, Fla St? right, Kansas, North Carolina, Duke, Florida and Memphis, some of those schools not confirmed - Wiggy was leaning Kansas.

More to come in the next few days!!

Wichita State HC is also in high demand! What, No Shaka Khan? He's not rumored to go anywhere? Very over-rated coach with Spike Lee syndrome!!

Later!

Letting Howland go would be a mistake - this year he learned to change his system to the players he had - and did better than last year - he is a solid college coach - makes no sense to fire a guy that won the Pac-12 conference. People have to remember he lost his best playmaker just before the tourney - he didn't break the kid's damned foot. It would be a stupid move and I'm glad the University has come out and tried to squelch the rumors.

Shocker's Marshall would be a nice get for anybody. Lost 4 of his starters from last year and still does this ? I wonder what Wich St can pay him.. they do sell a lot of tickets and play in a great building. I'd be hard prssed to leave.

UCLA is still a plumb job - if you are a good recruiter, you are in the game vs anybody in the country. Lots of recruits were torn about Howland - they didn't want to play his defense first game, but he surely sent a bunch of kids to the NBA.

AC, Chris Collins from Duke to Head Man in Evanston, ILL (N'western for those that don't know what school is in Evanston). Not official from Duke admin just yet, but a done deal according to ESPN.

Brad Stevens and Marshall, front runners for Minnesota job, also Marshall reportedly contacted regarding UCLA job.

Bennett of UVA is also rumored for Minnesota job, he grew up basically in Wisconsin and wants to move back to the midwest.

Larry Brown supposedly going to step down at SMU?

More to come I reckon!

Later!

Bennett to minny would be a good fit, IMO. His slow it down, grind it out style fits in the big-10... After they lose to Iowa tonight, he can accept the job in the morning...:0corn

With Butler joining the Big East, I'm not sure Stevens will bolt to a school like Minny. Sure they could probably pony up more $, but he signed that long-term deal at Butler and is now in a major conference, going to have to be a really lucrative deal and school to get him to leave.

You are probably correct Mr P on Stevens, he's said to stay becuz Butler gave him an opp, but you never know what $$$ does to people.

Edl, I think Wooden's hands are full trying to convince Wilt the Stilt there isn't screwing around in heaven!!

Shaka Smart pulled his name from UCLA & Minnesota consideration? Really? Was he even a candidate? LOL!! Yeah, prove you can recruit and coach after Anthony Grant has been gone for 4 years, then see if anyone is interested in giving you consideration Shaka!!

Can't believe you are actually mocking Smart. You don't think he recruited well when he was an assistant at Florida? Treavon Graham is a Sophomore, did Anthony Grant recruit him to VCU?

One thing Shaka is and that is driven. When here, he worked, worked and worked some more. I like the guy a lot. Super smart as well, He deserves all the success he's achieved, more so than anybody else I have known.

Mr P and FCP, I concur, you both have good pts about Shaka Smart, to me and I know ya'll have been around a long time watching college hoops, but he rubs me very wrong and I see a some comparison to Bruiser Flint, I know they are both different but I believe their paths will end up going from a top program and into the tank, but it's just my opinion and I've been known to be wrong :banghead:.

Local radio on the way home from "O" today in "RDU", stating that a number of NC State players are transfering (Purvis for one - he's about as smart as a box of rox) and Lorenzo Brown/CJ Leslie are going pro, and Mike Gottfried stated he would entertain the UCLA job if offered!! Good job Mike, from Alabama to ESPN tv guy to NC State Sweet 16 in 2012 to one and out in 2013, high expectations and now it's time to run? GO FIGURE!!

Later guys!
