Texas St -1 over UTSA ***
Like the Bobcats today over roadrunners...after watching about 6 games last yr in San Marcus in the 2nd row you really get to know a team...they lost over 20 games but their 2nd yr coach Kasper was outstanding...he was at SF Austin for years and made the NCAA"s..had 6 seasons of over 20 wins,etc...He can coach his ass off..there were many games vs Ark St,ArkLR Geo St,etc where he should of been blown out but they were in most of the games...he had no pt gd and the craziest NCAA player in Wright.Worth the $10 price of admission to watch him...but he's gone thank god...Kasper offense is part motion with flex..down screen,backdoors,etc..but his defense kept them in all games...pressure on the ball all times...I kept saying all he needs is a few more of his own recruits with his style and Texas St hoops will improve big time.
Well he has a solid pt gd in Brown who is a true pt gd.Weatherspoon is athletic and can score..Gant was there lyr and has a nice game with his back to the hoop..soft touch and at 6'8 blocks shots..Davis can't score but plays relentless defense... on top... I love that kid...
Roadrunners have Hill inside who can score...Lewis is a solid gd but shot 3-15 the other nite vs UT Pan AM...just see the Bobcats smothering the ball and Runners having trouble scoring...they are calling it "Kasperball" in San Marcus..it still might take some time for this team to gel together but I think I had a front row seat to the beginning...not a huge play but never the less a start.......and by the way, Kasper was a star at North Texas years ago...
thanks sammy for the memories..
back later with another few games..
