Simple Smacker

Out of 6 opportunities, Ohio State has covered one time in the role of a favorite. Most recently in this role, they lost/no cover off a weeks rest.

Not a good omen.

Iowa +6

I jumped on +4.5 like a cat on a bowl of sardines as soon as it was posted on Sunday nite,...I think that Ohio State is verry capable of loosing 2 in a row:thinking: :flush: :rant2: ,...the Iowa players must be licking their chops while watching the game film from the Wisconsin game.

Watch out!

Watch out!

Iowa does not have the running game that Wisconsin has. You can't compare apples to oranges. Just as last week was a good match up for Wisconsin. This week Wisky doesn't match up well with Purdue. Look for Ohio State to come out throwing versus IOWA. Ohio State will come back big the public is overreacting to the Buckeyes loss last week.

I don't think anyone is over-reacting to the Buckeyes loss. Let's face it, OSU is not that good and we've all known that for over a year.

I'm sure Iowa wants a piece of the Bucks since they didn't get to prove themselves against them last year.

FYI - The Big Ten has suspended Robert Reynolds for this game for his actions on Sorgi.

Also, Chris Gamble isn't practicing with the team this week. Apparently, he's still in Madison looking for his jock strap. ;)

iowa has a decent running game with Russell. hawks usually start slow but where teams down as the game goes on. Russell has gotten over 100 yds vs both Michigan St and Michigan. fyi, RB Jermelle Lewis is expected to return this week. i don't expect much since coming back from an ACL injury but he may provide an emotional lift. he is more of a power runner compared to russell who is more of a cut-back runner who can't break many tackles. albert young, true freshman rb who has also been out with injury, is expected to see time.

offensive lineman david walker will return.
receiver ed hinkle will return.
db jovon johnson should play
receiver mo brown is still questionable, i don't believe he has practiced in pads yet.

by the way... whoever said Fred Russell was excellent at catching passes out of the backfield... he has 1 career reception at Iowa...

good luck.

clark - Your smart ass remark about Russell was not appreciated. You know damn well who said, just say it was me. Don't let on you did not know who said it. I really thought it was him catching the ball out of the backfield. When I look back now it must have been their FB. Just because I am not an Iowa expert does not give you the right to be a smart ass. I try to follow each school, not just one. So take your 2 posts and stuff it, I never said excellent by the way so get it right. RUSSELL HAS 5 RECEPTIONS! SO WHY DON'T YOU GET IT RIGHT.

FYI, per the Columbus Dispatch, OSU was the first to suspend Reynolds for one game, not the Big Ten. In fact, I'm not sure the Big Ten has made any action for the incident. The comment on the "lost control of the team" really has no warrant. Clarrett was on his own from day one, and the Reynolds incident is isolated as far as Tressel's teams go. Don't blame the coach for someone who has a roid rage in the middle of battle. Not condoning it by any means, it was BS and a one-game suspension is really not enough, but it has nothing to do with controlling a team.

As far as this game goes, everyone in this thread mentions good points on why to side with Iowa or OSU. But, I can't bet a team with the laziest offensive line I have ever seen in college football. Was Clarett that good, or were the Bucks line a lot more hungrier this year. I don't think anyone of them have hustled to block a LB this year. I'll take the under thank you...

Good luck all...

Well I am glad the Big Ten took action. Of course Tressel did not step up and do something. Typical. No control of the team.

Well said. Tressl won't take action himself unless his hand is forced. He proved that during the offseason when he did nothing to Clarett until the NCAA forced him to. There's a misconception that Tressel is a class guy and runs a squeaky clean program. If that were the case, he'd have sat Clarett out a game last year for his outburst on RB coach Tim Spencer during the NW game.

People say that the actions of one man (Reynolds) are not the fault of the Head Coach. I say b*llshit. The head coach's job is to install values, class and sportsmanship into his program.
No discipline. Reminds me of the Miami Hurricanes of the 80's.

no horn, i didn't know who said it and didn't care. i rarely read this board and didn't mean anything personally. he does have a few more receptions than i thought. my bad. i imagine ohio state is wondering how they will contain russell both as a rb and receiver. combined he has a total of 732 yds rushing and receiving this year. 726 yds rushing + 6 yds receiving. hopefully tressell has been able to sleep this week. i know, another smart ass comment...

i do think it was the fullback you had seen catching the ball. champ davis caught 5 passes in the first couple of game before he got hurt and was playing extremely well. he will return this week.

some news on the injury front ---

it seems that an offensive lineman for iowa is injured and not sure whether or not will play. brian ferentz (center) slightly injured his knee at practice late last week and it was rumored to be him. he has said he will play though. david walker is said to still be limping around and possibly may not be ready to go. a true freshman, mike jones, could be seeing playing time this weekend. he hasn't played this year as was originally going to redshirt. reports from practice say he has done extremely well since arriving.

mo brown is definately out this week.

me and my 3 posts will now go shove it and never post here again.

good luck.
