Ohio State leads updated title odds

Don?t look now, but the Ohio State Buckeyes are the new college football national title favorite at BroburySports.com.

Ohio State is now the 9/2 ?chalk.? It?s certainly more than a little surprising they?re favored over national champion Alabama. Quarterback Terrelle Pryor must really be improved as a pocket passer this year for these odds to be justified.

Alabama is at 5/1 odds. Heisman running back Mark Ingram returns as does quarterback Greg McElroy and receiver Julio Jones. Throw in coach Nick Saban?s penchant for rebuilding defenses on the fly, and the Tide will ?Roll Again.?

Florida (6/1) is getting good reports from quarterback John Brantley as expected. However, dual threat Tim Tebow was a college football legend and can?t be replaced by one player. The Gators play at Alabama on Oct. 2 and are currently three-point underdogs.

Oklahoma (6/1) was ranked eighth in the first USA Today poll (Alabama was the runaway leader with 55 first-place votes). The Sooners are overvalued at 6/1 if you believe the poll, but sophomore quarterback Landry Jones could have something to say about it.

Boise State (9/1) went 14-0 last year, including a win over TCU in the Fiesta Bowl. The Broncos have a great chance of going undefeated if they can beat Virginia Tech on Labor Day night in Maryland. Boise is 2 ?-point ?chalk? in that game.

Nebraska (12/1) has made a lot of enemies in the Big 12 by leaving for the Big Ten next season. However, most of the power in the Big 12 lies in the South and the North Cornhuskers should have a clear path to the conference title game.

Texas Longhorns (15/1) saw their national title hopes disappear with Colt McCoy?s injury against Alabama. Garrett Gilbert subbed in that game and showed he?ll be the next great quarterback. The Longhorns provide value at these odds.

TCU (15/1) is getting overlooked this year after losing to Boise State last season. Quarterback Andy Dalton returns as does most of the offense. The defense lost Jerry Hughes and Daryl Washington, but should still be very good.
