Just an FYI whether you know it or not when you get an upgrade in equipment (free or paid) you automatically start a new 2 year contract. For most people it's not a big deal but it's there and some people have been burnt by it.

Thats sounds like scam to me, IF I HAVE PAID FOR A SERVICE THAT YOUR COMPANY OFFERS and I have previously had that service with the equipment your company supplied, how is it that when a reciever burns or the firmware/software can no longer be patched or booted does the CUSTOMER have to resign or re new a contract...I can understand a requested upgrade by the customer that be the case, but if that were the case for me Id call a CSR and request a manager, basically IF that is the case they are saying you can no longer view what you have paid for UNLESS you re new a contract BECAUSE of the fact that WE as a company have upgraded our systems? Thats doesnt sound ethical, even with these crummy phone companies you only have to re sign IF you want to upgrade OR RECEIVE THE EQUIPMENT for FREE:shrug:
Good luck if it matters to anyone. Id hate to find I was AUTOMATICALLY enrolled into something through no fault or knowledge of it, even the sports packages you know they automatically re new at an early bird special price.

It's hard to believe but 100% true. Do a google search about DirecTV cancellation fees. People go to cancel at the end of their 2 years, but lo and behold 1 year in DirecTV called and said "hey why don't you upgrade your receiver we'll give it to you free" and it automatically renews the 2 years from that day forward. You can read about it all over the place online.

see thats a receiver upgrade for no reason, THIS is a equipment issue not a customer request but need. Sucks either way

I have upgraded my receivers in the past and I got the "automatically renews the 2 years" if use this receiver. I did not get that notice this time. However, does not mean DirecTV would not try to hit me with an "early cancellation" penalty" if I stop the service. As long DirecTV is the only way to get the NFL Sunday ticket.. I have no choice
