The united States is the most powerful country in the world, yet they are now divided......during 9/11 the reason the country rebounded so quickly is because we all were togther "United We Stand" to speak against an unspeakable evil.....

Now we are at war and many people choose to speak against the war and our president....but there is one common goal that for some reason goes overlooked......

no one likes war...ask the president, ask the troops, and ask iraq....no one likes what is going on....

everyone supports the the troops...everyone understands that young men and women are dying every day and no one wants that and everyone respects them....

so why doesn't anyone voice thier opinion on that? fromMartin Sheen to mike Moore people are screaming insults and stop the war when they could take the time to say something else, something positive, something that would bring this country togther, not apart.....why not?!?!?!

I don't know but I wish they did ......

good post scoop

to add my 2 cents - and this is all my opionon obviously...

War is never a good thing. Its a crime in my eyes, no matter who invades who. I still think the US can do its objective without 300K troops. Others see differently.

While Iam against the President, I support the troops - mainly becuase of alot of people I know that are serving, and the fact that iam in the armed forces.

I dont know what will bring the nation together - probably nothing at this time. War is nothing to be proud of and too cheer for - but this is the world we live in. A world driven by economic dreams and powerful desires. I say live your life to the fullest - and try to forget about the worlds woes.

We anti's can go on and on just as the pro's can. In the end - what we say means nothing. We dont control the country nor the military. We are merely dust in the wind....Arguing will never get us anywhere, but this forum has done a pretty good job of staying respectful - compared to other boards I have visited.

To the troops and the innocent civilians, I hope for the best of them and hope for the troops to get home safe and for the innocent civilians to start living life again.

Hellah --thanks for the good post and I have a few comments on yours....

While Iam against the President, I support the troops - mainly becuase of alot of people I know that are serving, and the fact that iam in the armed forces.

if you are in the armed forces than hopefully you know of these facts...

1) The President alone does not decide if we go to war so it would seem like you should be against more than just him...

2) and as your commander in chief you should know that the people and the process have choosen him in this position and I hope you are not one of the military members who joined for an education thinkiing you ould never go to war....

Please do not take my coments as insults as they are not meant to be your comments just stood out to me as a bit two sided especially because you are in the armed forces...

thanks,

ohh trust me my friend...

I didnt just sign up for the money. Iam in an Engineering Battalion - we look for land mines. I knew what I was getting myself into right off the bat. If they call me up, then hey - I guess they call me up. Its either that...or go to Ft. Levanworth  and get Court Marshalled. Just as long as they give me some Kevlar to wear and a functioning M16(some weapons suck and are old) - I`ll be good to go.

and your correct about "1) The President alone does not decide if we go to war so it would seem like you should be against more than just him..." BUT - the commander in chief has the final word, which in this case is President Bush.

I guess it was just the fact you were so opposed to the president that made me stop and think..trust me if you scoop up land mines (army right?) then I respect you already but I would think anyone who is in the military would be for the opinions of your commander ...

most M-16's are being replaced because you are right they are old...hopefully you won't need one anytime soon and if your sent to leavenworth maybe an ass guard would come in handy :D

fawwwwwwkkkk that!!   I'd rather run through a mile of mustar gas then spend a day in Leavenworth --- ohhhh the stories I have heard about that place. Gives me the creeps.

as far is this goes...

"..but I would think anyone who is in the military would be for the opinions of your commander ... "

The President is just simply my boss. He`s a big time boss - but a boss none the less. Its one thing to not respect what he wants us to do, but its another thing to not respect and be stupid about it like that Sergeant did throwing nades in the tents of the 101st. Hell, I didnt even respect what my squad leader use to tell me, that guy was a bitch.

Hoo-ah :D (I use to love saying that)

Yes, according to my contract Iam currently part of a reserve unit. I was reserve when I first signed up, after basic training I told my 1st Sergeant that I liked this shit and I wanna go full time -- 6 months later I was full time and stationed in Ft. Knox, Kentucky. I went all over the nation - but didnt do shit. I was full time for 3 years. After those 3 years, I had to spend a year at my Reserve Unit(what a bunch of ate up fools). Went to Eygpt for 2 weeks - which sucked cuz I saw bugs the size of my boots, freaked me out. Anyways, I got out of Active Duty this past summer - and now Iam in a IRR program(Inlisted Ready Reserve) program for 2 years. Bascially saying Im not active duty, but I`ll be there if I am needed.

Iam glad to see who know whats going on. I appluad you for that.

Alot of troops come home, but then you got troops who stay there as peace keepers - and obviously the US is gonna have a base(like they have in Suadi Arabia). So it`ll be a place to get stationed at. Sucks if you dont like sand storms :p

Lots of things about this stuff that not alot of people know about - I just happen to be blessed being surrouned by people who have been there and done that.
