Wigs-
I'll be at the game, but I don't know much about Tennessee Tech just yet. Anybody have thoughts on this team? I know they just won big at Dayton!

But....here's what I do know:
TT opens as a 1-point fave.......

this will be Yale's 1st home playoff game in 106 years.....

the game will NOT be at Yale University's comfy and historic home gym of Payne-Whitney......

the game is being played, however, in Yale's hometown of New Haven, at the New Haven Colusseum

the President of Yale wanted this game to be played in Connecticut so bad, that he PURCHASED 6,000 tickets to sway the NIT commitee to make it a home game for Yale.....the NIT thought that Payne-Whitney was too small a site to host an NIT game......

all fans will be admitted to the game for free.........regardless of age or school-affiliation. However, anyone wishing for "reserved" seats must pay.

Yale is coming off a win at Rutgers....something that UConn, Syracuse and Notre Dame failed to do this season.

More to come......

With the "home" court advantage, Sagerin ratings would make Yale a one point favorite in this one.

FWIW I'm down on Yale +1 for a smallish-sized play.

From what I know about Tennessee-Tech (I followed the OVC a little bit this year) they can really shoot the ball, especially from behind the arc.

Stag -- Yale is on spring break, how many students will be at the game?

...guys, FWIW, watch out for this Tech team.... they were seconds away from beating Murray St. and going to the dance.... i think that they had the best record in the ovc this year? anyway, they are a very good team, esp if they are shooting well from downtown.... they have an excellent coach (who will probably get lured away to a bigger program next season) and if I'm not mistaken, a lot of senior leadership.... GL, guys.

Stag --

Taoist is right.

TT was just nine seconds away from going to the Dance.

Senior leadership? Not exactly, but they don't start three freshmen like Yale. TT leading scorer/rebounder Damien Kinloch is a junior transfer and was 2002 OVC Newcomer of the Year and missed being named OVC Player of the Year by one vote. He averages 16 ppg and 8.4 rpg.

Starting point guard soph Cameron Crisp took over for injured Leigh Gayden in the tenth game of the season shoots 44% from the field and 47% from the arc.

As a team TT is shooting 48% from the field and 37% from behind the arc.

They're 10-4-1 ATS on the road.

Common opponent was Tennessee-Martin who Yale lost to by ten on 11/14 in Missouri after getting down big early. TT swept both games against T-M this season.

Given that Yale has no familiarity with the New Haven Coliseum I like TT in this one.

thanks for the info on Tenn. Tech, guys.

I think I'll just pass on the TT-Yale game or maybe call something in while I'm up there (if I notice something) right before tip-off.

Played Kent State, though, already at -1 and I feel really good about it.

Let me know in here if you guys get any more info on the Tenn. Tech-Yale game, and I will try to do the same.

As far as mid-major conference teams go, I think both Kent and So. Illinois have great chances too win outright and make the Elite 8. And I'll be rooting for both. GL!

as you can see, took Kent St. -1 when the line first came out.

My eyes popped out of my head when I saw Kent was only favored by 1. Kent is the better team....and the "Big Least" is way overrated. The MAC is the "antithesis" of that.

Now......I see PITT is favored by 1.5!........ I'll be dropping more dough on Kent State for 2 more reasons now.
1- GETTING points
2- PUBLIC money on Pitt......

This might not be an easy game for Kent, but I'll be very surprised if they don't advance to the next round.

This is a very large play for me. My only wager of the day.

Just my two cents. Good luck to everyone!!

Stag,

Well, I guess you have your reasons for liking Kent State and they may win this game, but I sure would not sell the Big East short. The top teams ......CT, Pitt, and Notre Dame can play with the Heavyweights.....and in Connecticuts case......if they ever all have a decent game.... together...........Watch Out!!!! Even now, they are a lot better than when they lost to MD. and OK.
They are weak at the point and very young.........but they continue to Win even though its ,oftentimes, ugly.
Yeah, the Big Least had its tough losses....to Duke and others this year but a few good Ws also....Ask UCLA, Arizona, Mich. St. Iowa St. Tenn. Vandy, Wake and others........sure for every St Johns/Duke theres a Seton Hall/Duke or ND/Duke that reaffirms the competitiveness of the league..........Overrated....na....who rates em high anyway????

Pitt beats everyone and convinces noone. They are an effecient team....big ......very good, and they're tough. Kent State is GOOD!
but no better than Pitt.......this should be a great game!!!!!!
They gave Ct all they could handle at the Garden which was like a home game for CT. and if Knight doesnt go down at the end ....who knows??? . Kent may win this one and the numbers are dead EVEN.........Pitt plays a little tougher schedule but this should be to the wire and should stay in the 60s. (foul shooting may decide)
I really am going to enjoy this game.........NO BET

good luck!

WATCH OUT FOR PITT!!!

WATCH OUT FOR PITT!!!

BEAR, WELL SAID NICE WRITEUP.

I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT PITT. NEEDS TO DO TO GET SOME RESPECT. THEY HAVE COVERED OVER 80% OF THEIR GAMES THIS YR. THEY ARE A FREAKING COVER MACHINE. FOR ANYONE TO SAY KENT IS EXPECTED TO WIN THIS GAME, I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND.
KENT IS FROM THE MAC...NOTHING AGAINST THE MAC CONF., BUT I THINK THE BIG LEAST IS A TAD BETTER....WHAT KINDA RECORD DO U THINK KENT WOULDVE PUT UP THIS YR. IF THEY WERE IN THE BIG LEAST......MAYBE .500??.....I DOUBT 13-3 LIKE PITT. DID.
KENT PLAYED 2-TOURNY TEAMS DURING REG. SEASON...THEY LOST TO XAVIER AND KY....GRANTED THEY BEAT OK.ST AND ALABAMA SO FAR IN TOURNEY. THAT PUTS THEM AT 2-2 VS. TOURNEY TEAMS...PITT. ON THE OTHER HAND HAS PLAYED A TOTAL OF 11 GAMES VS. TOURNEY TEAMS....THEY ARE 7-4...
IM NOT SO SURE PUBLIC MONEY ON PITT....VEGAS REALIZES PITT. GETS NO RESPECT ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND MOST SQUARES LIKE TO BET THE CINDERELLA TYPE TEAMS....THEREFORE OPENED UP WITH KENT-1....SMART MONEY GRADUALLY TAKING HOLD AND MOVED LINE CLOSER TO WERE IT SHOULD BE. HOW CAN THE BIG EAST DIV. CHAMP NOT BE FAVORED OVER A MAC CHAMP.? HELL, PITT. SHOULD BE FAVORED BY ATLEAST 3....AT -1 ITS STILLA GIFT.
SHOULD BE A GOOD CLOSE GAME WITH PITT. DOWN EARLY, BUT THEIR TOUGH DEF. WILL GRADUALLY WEAR KENT DOWN AND PITT. SHOULD PULL AWAY LATE FOR A 5-7 PT. WIN....
I HOPE!

GLUCK ALL, BURGH.

STEAL.......
Vegas had Kent -1 for a reason.
Also, I have to disagree with you about "square" money being on Kent and other "cindrellas" like you say. First of all, anybody who follows college baskets knows that term is overrused and certainly does NOT apply to Kent State this year. And, "square" or public money tends to drift heavily on the higher seeds and big-named schools from TV conferenes.
Anyway, I wish we could have bet on the game.......it would have saved one of us some juice! And, boy, do I have a lot of juice on Kent!

KENT IMPRESSIVE!!!

KENT IMPRESSIVE!!!

STAG....JUST WANT TO CONGRATULATE YOU ON A GREAT CALL....IM GLAD U CASHED SINCE I DIDNT.
JUST GOT IN FROM THE LOCAL PUB....CARRYING MY TAIL BETWEEN MY LEGS. THE GAME WENT EXACTLY AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD. PITT. DOWN EARLY AS USUAL FOR THEM. THEN A STRONG 2ND HALF RUN..WHICH DID HAPPEN...PITT. WENT UP BY A FEW.
AT THAT POINT, MOST TEAMS THIS YR. COLLAPSED. KENT DIDNOT.
VERY IMPRESSIVE TEAM.....HOPEFULLY THEY GET BY INDIANA.....ILL B ROOTING FOR THEM.I STILL STAND BY MY ORIGINAL THOUGHT THAT THIS LINE WAS OFF....I BELIEVE IT CLOSED AT 2.5, AT ABOUT WHAT IT SHOULDVE BEEN.
AGAIN NICE CALL.....GLAD U CASHED.

GLUCK TOMORROW, STEEL.
