PHOENIX (AP) -- Arizona's secretary of state said Hawaii's verification of President Barack Obama's birth records meets the necessary requirements and that the President's name will appear on Arizona's ballot in the fall.

The inquiry gave official weight to a long-simmering political controversy generated by those who say that Obama was not born in the US.

The Obama administration attempted to dismiss the conflict a year ago by releasing his long-form birth certificate showing that he was born in Hawaii.

Skeptics maintained their stance and eventually Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett announced he would seek further verification, even saying he was prepared to leave Obama's name off the state's ballot in November.

Bennett said Wednesday that Hawaii has officially confirmed the information on a copy of Obama's birth certificate as accurate.

Duff, your story only confirms that they aren't or can't release the information unless Obama gives permission, nice of them to act like they've released a birth certificate.

Duff, number 16 would clear things up.

Obama is a CRIMINAL FRAUD, so anything that comes out after four years has been tainted.

"Birtherism is a fringe issue that's way out of the mainstream, and it's disturbing when you see people you ... have some level of respect for, whether it's members of Congress or even Donald Trump, falling into that category," said Steve Schmidt, one of Sen. John McCain's senior advisers in 2008. "In the middle of the electorate, people think it's bats--t crazy. The side that's seen flirting with it doesn't do themselves any favors."
