I own ORCL both personally and as a large position in my investment group. We bought at a then all-time low of ~$18 only to see it drop to ~$6-7. It has now aggressively rallied back to ~$13.50. With the news of the hostile take-over of Peoplesoft, I wrongly expected to see the stock hit another small skid. It has actually increased by ~15-20%. I don't believe that the takeover is going to happen.

My question is this. Has the recent upswing been due to the overall industry performance or does it reflect the Peoplesoft deal?

I would like to hang on to our investment club's shares until we get to a break even point. When does that seem likely if it does at all?

General rule of thumb, when you lose 8% of your initial buy price it's time to get out. Hindsight is 20/20 but you should have sold @ 16.00, then you could have rebought @ 6 and reaped the benefits, if you are that sold on Oracle --- Ellison is an arogant jackass. Look into Boston Sci if you want the high tech stocks....projecting 20% over the next 5 yrs. Also I never buy a stock that is less that $12 USD. just my .02
