I can see this coming true.

This is absolutely hilarious, but the scary part about it is it's probably not too far away from being reality, providing Obama has his way with socialized medicine, and digitizing medical records.

Keep paying your premiums, they need your money for golden parachutes and after they deny you, you can always go to the ER.

BTW, UHG profits were up 155% from last year, with fewer enrollments? SUCKERS!

It continues to amaze me that so many people become raving lunatics when it comes to profits. Yes - many companies and CEO's do make obscene profits. And yes there are abuses. But the profit motive is what has brought so many advancements to society.

In many cases the companies are owned by stockholders who also gain from the profit. If you were a shareholder in UHG what would you do, return the profits or donate them to charity?

Companies that make profits also employ people - more people than companies that do not make money. They buy materials and ship materials which provide jobs for other related companies and workers. Companies that do not make a profit go out of business and people lose jobs and their suppliers and vendors get stiffed. That's great for the economy.

If we take the profit incentive out of the marketplace, companies will close and people and all the things associated with that business will be out of luck. It is like a row of dominoes.

I don't know if capping salaries and profits can be done or should be done. But if profit motives don't exist, the government will be running everything and I think that is something we can do without.

I think there's a difference when it comes to healthcare, in many respects, tho, ferdville. It's not like we, as individuals have much of a choice when it comes to issues with our health - at least not like other "businesses" that do what they can to stay competitive in a free market. We go to a hospital - do we really have any choices to make? Do we tell the doctor that we want a cheaper tissue, or generic blood, or a cheaper nurse, or bypassing medical procedures if we're told they are necessary - or get to negotiate the price? Do we have any real advantages to going to one hospital, or doctor, or anywhere when it comes to this? I know there are differences, but not that many, I don't think.

Kind of the same when it comes to gas and energy, but not as much. I don't know of many businesses where the cost of doing business WITH them has gone up so much, so fast, with no end in sight - and definitely no reason to change that money printing scenario. Until now, maybe, that is.
