Sorry," the Buffalo Sabres' leading scorer said. "I'm not going to talk about the power play."
The power play has been a hot topic in Buffalo for years, mostly because it's been pretty cold. This season hasn't been much different.
The Sabres entered Wednesday night's games ranked ahead of only one other team on the power play. They have converted 11.9 percent of their chances, tying them with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks for 28th in the NHL.
Sure, there have been flashes of life. The Sabres scored at least one power-play goal in five straight games from Dec. 15-26, executing six of 23 chances.
In the 16 games since, however, the Sabres have scored on only five of 70 opportunities. That's 7.1 percent
Who's hot: G Martin Biron is 7-3-2 with a 1.81 GAA and a .935 save percentage in his past 12 starts
OTTAWA SENATORS Who's hot: RW Daniel Alfredsson has five goals and two assists in his past five games.

Early lean BUFFALO AND THE UNDER.

It's been a few since OTT put two wins in a row together, and the defense hasn't shown since the break (4.00gpg). Gotta think BUF +0.5 has some value.

frogy, yup I pretty much deduced the same thing. I like the under as well.

MOV, Sabres are at critical point of their season now because they need a push here to have any chance at making playoffs. Sens might even look ahead to tomorrow's match against Detroit.

The Colorado Avalanche returned to basics in its practices the past three days in hopes it will play a fundamentally sound game tonight. We tried to round up our whole game,-- breakouts, forechecking and special teams," Hartley said Thursday. "We have four games left before the Olympic break, and it is important for us to get back on track. "I don't think they were tough practices, but they were good practices. We went a little longer."
Lose a game the way the Colorado Avalanche did Monday night, after two similar losses, and bag skates are almost sure to follow.
What are bag skates? They are continuous skating exercises administered by coaches whereupon the skaters may be in desire of medium-sized bags in which to regurgitate when they are done.
In other words, skate 'em til they puke.
"Maybe we needed that," a red-faced, winded Greg de Vries said Tuesday after practice. "Maybe that'll get us back to focus. Maybe we were getting off track. We had a great road trip, but came home and had a little letdown."
Coach Bob Hartley stood at center ice with a stopwatch and a whistle, marshaling one group after another
