Loved watching the Preakness and seeing Funnycide win.What a great story with these owners from Sakeetharbor pooling their money together.
But the best story is about the trainer Barclay Tagg.Everyone in NY knows he's a great trainer.But never got to be with the big boys.In NY everyone has always had a lot of respect for him in the racing circles.It's great to see this evolve when a small time guy gets to play with the more rich and famos and beat them. Soundly I might add.And then get questioned when his jockey is suspected with maybe tampering.It had to be sweet for Santos yest to blow the field away.
Barclay's on his home turf now.I think we have a triple crown winner in the making.
I'm really mixed up about the Miami move to the ACC.I think its coming.I hope BC and the Cuse don't follow.I'm selfish because I'm thinking of b-ball.I know Tranghese is offering more money to Miami with not sharing the money among the other BE teams.
But being a BE person,Miami is really still new in the BE.There are no real rivalries because its such a young league.There are big games like Maimi vs BC and the Cuse but don't forget the canes beat them this yr by a combined score of 87-13.I know the yr before BC had the Canes beat but blew it.
I can see why Miami should go.Geography alone makes sense.Baseball and the womans program would be better if they joined the ACC.But money is the real issue.Let them go.But don't take the Cuse and BC please.
And Tranghese is steaming about the ACC raid.If these 3 teams go he will raid the A-10 in a NY minut.
And FSU which has won 10 of 11 ACC titles since joining the league will have some rivalry with the canes.
Iowa St made the biggest blunder the other day.Picking Wayne Morgan as their new coach.Unreal.He is terrible.What the hell are they thinking.He couldn't get an asst job last yr.You-stay-she helps his old buddy and gives him an asst job after getting fired from Long Beach st.Wayne had problems as a bench coach that blew games because of timeouts,unprepared vs other teams,etc,control of players,etc,etc.
He did have a few winning yrs but he had some good talent.He is a good recruiter and many yrs playing in the Big West he had the most talent almost every yr yet only won one or 2 titles.
Morgan had no discipline what so ever.Had great athletic players but never could win.
Long beach fired him last yr. because of that.Team unrest,players ineligible,etc
And a B-12 team makes him their top coach.Unreal
Wayne can recruit.He is a great B.S'er but he couldn't coach a HS team team.
Back in the mid-70's Wayne was coaching Dutchess CC. in my backyard[Poughkeepsie]I had a great player that couldn't predict because of SAT's scores so everyone knew we were going the juco route.Wayne walks into my gym and scouts my kid.I'll never forget him telling me "I'm not really sold on him."
I said OK,because he's being looked at by a lot of schools.
Well as the season progressed my kid is being recruited by San Jacinto,Vincennes,and many more.Back then they were the UCLA's and NC's of Juco b-ball.
Wayne calls me and he has second thoughts.He would like recruit my kid.I told him "thanks but no thanks".
Wayne moved on to the Cuse for over 10 yrs.I got to know him as he recruited a few other of my players over the yrs.A real nice guy but can't coach.Iowa St is in trouble.
And the player who he recruited did play juco ball but never made it to D-1.
About 10 yrs ago I got a call from one of my former players who was his teamate.He was killed in NYC in a drug deal.

Maverick..When Webber lied to the grand jury he cannot plea.I think he has to go to jail.Why he would lie when everyone around him is "dropping dimes" including his father.
