7. Marshall
8. Georgia
9. Virginia Tech
10.Notre Dame

Most underrated?

3. Penn State
4. Mississippi
5. Texas Tech

Why would you even consider putting Pitt on your list...

Why would you even consider putting Pitt on your list...

This team has played above and beyond everyone's expectations. They have one of the best defenses in the country and not that great of a quarterback despite putting up great offensive numbers. How the hell do you think they are overated when they are obviously not getting any respect. They should have beat Texas A&M, had it not been for a phantom call of motion on an extrapoint, (didn't they beat Oklahoma). They nearly beat Notre Dame and they beat a number 3 team in the country at their home, who was looking extremely dominant, not to mention a perfect record in the Big East. All of this and only a 19 ranking, give me a freaking break!!!:rolleyes

Come on man say your oppinion that's fine, but you got to expect some backlash when your oppinion is completely wrong!

By the way Pitt plus the points is the to go on Thursady and VT tonight will crush WVU. LISTEN TO THIS ADVICE AND GET YOUR LOVED ONES SOME NICE CHRISTMAS PRESENTS EARLY!!:D

DD,

I respect your thoughts and you do make a very strong case....but like I said this is just my opinion, I may be wrong but it is my opinion, doesn't mean I am right..hell if BCS is fawked up, imagine my above mentioned selections... I just expected more from Pitt given the talent on their team, true though a couple of close calls and things could have been different.
come to think of it Pitt should not be 4th in my list, a lower ranking would be appropriate..

thanks ;)

great thread. my overrated/underrated

overrated:

1) ohio state....not gonna harp on this one anymore..said enough about em in recent threads..never seen a #2 team play so scared

2) washington state...their non-conference schedule was a joke.. the one respectable team they played (ohio state) completely dominated them... plus wazzou was fortunate enough to play every tough pac-10 opponent at home this year

3) notre dame...last few weeks have lessened the "hype" and exposed em a little...very similiar to ohio state...good defense, but offense is an embarrassment.

4) oregon...heres a team that i didnt want to put on the list, but they gotta be here... theyve looked pathetic in recent weeks and have deservedly dropped out of the top 25 finally.. even early in the season, they were stumbling around inferior teams

underrated:

1) usc... ironically im going against em this week most likely, but this team is friggin good...palmer is finally reaching his potential.. they run the ball well... they pass the ball well.. theyve got an outstanding defense...and theyre well coached...they dont even play like a pac 10 team... they actually can stop opposing offenses...just a frggin good team

2) oklahoma... i know this sounds ridiculous- but its ridiculous that a 1-loss oklahoma team is ranked behind iowa and washington state....both those teams would stand zero chance against oklahoma head to head...i know its all about "when you lose" but still- to think that wazzou and iowa are anywhere near oklahoma is ludicrous

3) florida...this has been a weird season for them...high expectations...then nearly hit rock bottom..but now people are sleeping on them and theyre playing well...if they get healthy for their bowl game, i wouldnt want to play them...grossman has really elevated his play the last month after starting slow

4) marshall....specifically "underrated" in relation to the mac.... when leftwich is healthy, bowling green, toledo, and northern illinos arent close...obviously with leftwich being down, the races have tightened...but marshall is still head and shoulders about anyone in that conference

TTM$,
Great thread! :D

Just gimme a little insight as to why you think the Rebels are underrated? I'm a huge Rebel fan and have been let down game after game. Yea they have a pretty good QB but they need so much more than that. They lack a lot of size on D and still haven't proven they have a stud RB that can get the job done. Seems like they have fallen flat the past couple of years when they get into the meat of their season and start playing some real teams. (Other SEC teams of course) Do you think they are underrated because they beat FL? I really think they deserve the criticism they get until they can win a game in the second half of their season!

Sometimes I catch myself wondering how good Miami or Alabama would be if Manning were QB for them. Just a thought...What do you think? :D

TTM,

No big deal, I guess I took my frustrations about how UNDER RATED Pitt is out on you. I think they will prove to a lot of people on Thursday that they are a team to be reckoned with. This program has been completely turned around in the past 4 years, along with the basketball program. I guess I am just an overly proud alum?

By the way respect your capping ability and insight none the less.

Virginia

Have had some great 2nd half comebacks this yr. 2 weeks ago this team had the worst yardage differential in the ACC and have only outgained 2 opponents this yr. Haven't checked yet but they still probably do. Yes special teams are a big part of it but still think this defense is horrible and cannot wait to go against them come bowl season.

Kentucky

Opened alot of eyes with the big win early over Louisville. Soon everyone realized Louisville's O-line is a joke and every team since has been pounding Ragone. Another team that is giving up tons of yds on defense and a few of their covers this year they were outgained and out 1st downed big time.

Louisville

Even when it was clear how bad their OL was the lines have still been inflated with them, possibly due to their win over FSU and the yr they had last yr. Nice defense and QB but the O-Line has been so bad, which has really hurt the running game. Almost had a stroke when they were favored by 14 over TCU, with the frogs defense.

underrated:

TCU

Speak of the devil. This team has not gotten the pub of Louisville, Southern Miss, and even Cincinatti. But they have the best defense if CONF USA, imho and have a good WR duo on offense. Felt and posted weeks ago that they would win conf usa and still think they will. This team absolutely destroyed Louisville a few weeks ago. One come from behind loss to Cincy is their only blemish in confernce play.

Wake Forest

Sentimental pick for me as this team has been good to me this yr. Think they are still underrated and I love watching this team run the ball. Their misdirection plays are so good and make it hard for a defense to figure out which way they are running. Hoping they make a bowl game as I feel they deserve it.

Missouri

Another team that has done well yet not many (xcept here at MJ's) are talking about how much these team is improved. They have been scoring pts in bunches lately vs some pretty good BIG12 teams. For as good as WR Justin Gage and the freshman QB are the media never seem to mention them.

I don't know about ND being overrated. In the beginning of the year, I don't think anyone expected them to be where they are today. And I'm no fan of ND. I root for however they play. But I don't think they were overrated. I feel the same about Pittsburgh. I don't think anyone expected them to be at the top of the Big East (for the time being, anyway). <img src="http://www.geocities.com/bogies3.geo/CarrotTop.JPG">

I really have to disagree with Ole Miss being underrated. Ole Miss is not a very good team at all. If anything they started the year overrated. They have no running game and not much of a defense.

I think Alabama has been underrated. I say this because if you look at the teams ahead of Alabama, they could beat most if not all of them considering the way we are playing right now.

I would also put Pitt and WV on the underrated list.

1) Ohio State

Being ranked #2 is a joke. They are a good team...but not #2. All year they have struggled....and they barely win on the road. The majority of the games they won all came down to the final play....and if thats the way they continue to play...then Miami or Oklahoma would kill them. The speed of Miami and Oklahoma along with the talent would embaress OSU.

2) Virginia Tech

After tonight...they lost alot of respect. Its one thing to lose...but at home  If you cant stop the run...then your defense is asking for an ass whooping. And Rodney Gilmore was right tonight, they knew what play was coming...put kept on missing tackles. Thats how Marshall gets killed everytime...they cant grabbed on.

3) Texas

Learn to play defense.....

4) Marshall

Learn to play defense....

5) Iowa St

When it came down to playing the big boys....you really found out the talent on this team....

Underrated

1) Alabama

I thought this team was gonna suck balls becuase they werent gonna go to a bowl game...they proved me wrong...

2) South Florida

Why dont more people talk about how good this team is...

3) Toledo

:D Underclassmen and still in the MAC Title race :D

4) West Virginia

They proved that tonight...

5) TCU

This team is better then Louisville! Get them off TV and put TCU on

I'll put it this way. Seen a TON of football teams and this is how I would rank the top 10 (in order who would beat whom on a neutral field)

Miami

Oklahoma

BIG GAP

Iowa/USC/ND

Ohio State/Texas/Georgia

Wazzu (beat everybody at home, real tests vs UW, @UCLA)

K State

Good teams flying below the radar:

WVU/Pitt/TCU/UCLA/Penn State/Col State

nice thread

overrated

1. notre dame, I know ty has done well for what they have but they are not worthy of a top 5 finish(will lose to usc anyway)

2. ohio state, i pray everyday that they win out and play miami in the fiesta with a +6 line, wow i would take the house

3. texas, how bad is this coach????

4. v tech, i guess we see that now

5. wash st., please this team doesn't know defense if it bit them in the ass

underrated

1. alabama, I think in a playoff this team could win it all, you never want to play an alabama team with a chip on its shoulder

2. oklahoma, one loss shouldn't take this team out of the race

3. iowa, the only reason i give the big 10 any respect, learn to count dumb f*cks, big(11)

4. florida, bad start strong finish

5. maryland, last year was no fluk this program is a contender for the next couple years

I didn't put Alabama in my Top -10 ranking because they are on probation, however I would rank them in the second group just below OU and even with Iowa/ND/SC.

Good call. This is a GOOD team.
