On the course!
Well, the "Fifth Annual Brett Favre Retirement Game" is going to be played on prime time New Year's Eve.

By the time the game kicks off, Green Bay will know if they have any chance of making the playoffs with a win over the Bears. The Bears, of course, have "nothing to play for".

I don't know if any of you have watched the Packers "win" their last three games, but they resembled a blind man making it across a five lane Interstate without so much as a scratch!........It just don't happen without a shitload of luck.

Now, the pundits out there are already harping about how this game means squat to Chicago, etc, etc,.......This is complete bullshit!

We have all seen what happens to teams who enter the playoffs on losing notes. Sure, some can get it going again, but they generally don't want to have to re-start the engine. Plus......I don't care what anyone says. This rivalry still means a ton to Smith, and he wants to bury Green Bay. (You can't tell me otherwise!)

I understand the intangibles. You don't want anyone getting hurt, etc. Guys need rest, etc. That's all well, and good.

But if you can keep Green Bay out of the playoffs? Hell......you know you're playing those starters for a short time anyway, and the second string aint just gonna "mop up".

So here's my thought on the situation:

Chicago will most likely give their starters a half to three quarters of game time. Let's play safe, and say just the first half. Well, they are going to want to win the game, so my estimation is that they will pile it on early, and let the big boys sit.

Now, Green Bay has barely beaten teams who couldn't tie their laces the last three weekends! John Madden will be blowing Favre from the booth all week leading up to this game, and the love-fest will continue at game tine. The Bears defense knows this. (I'm pretty sure that they also remember shutting out the Pack the first time they played this season.)

Favre will shit himself for the first thirty minutes, and while Green Bay has a nice defense, they won't be able to defend Favre's errors.

I know it is only Tuesday, but I already made my wager. I don't want to lose any value.

I highly recommend pounding the piss out of:

Worst thing that could happen to the Pack is Grossman sitting the second half with the backup eating the secondary alive. Third string running back has been playing possessed. The Bears 2nd and 3rd string players on D have been playing a lot all year already. They are already taking to the media about going into the playoffs intense. Bears players don't want the kick to the head the got last year during the post season. And truthfully, they are definitely not being coddled in this town by the fans or the media. It's kind of pissing the players off and they feel disrespected. The chip on their shoulder will do them well.

Brett is not retiring.

I think it's a great move.

I have a question concerning this game and the playoff scenarios...

Accourding to my source, if the Giants win on Saturday and Green Bay wins Sunday night, whoever has the highest strength of victory will make the playoffs regardless of what the other nfc teams do

Assuming that is correct...shouldn't we already know which team will make the playoffs if they both win this week?

Obviously there's a formula for calculating a teams strenth of victory. I don't know what it is but someone out there does and they should be able to plug in the numbers for each team (assuming they both win this week) and tell us who would have the highest strenth of victory after this week.

YYZ-

Sorry to disagree here but why do you think the Bears are that great lately??? Have you watched the past 2 weeks? BUCS and Lions offenses have been less than stellar and they picked the Bears apart.. Secondly- I believe the Bears have only played 3 teams over a .500 record (Jets, Seahawks and pats)..

Bears will be one and done in the playoffs..............

Respectfully- I hope the PACK WIN...... Just moved to Illinois this year and hate the FICKLE Bears fans !!!!!

Hey guy last I checked the Bears didn't make their schedule, can't blame them. And while yes their D has struggled a little the past two games, but guess what they still won, they are 13-2, and the road to the super bowl in the NFC goes thru Solider Field.

Also have you seen the packers play the last two weeks, or all season for that matter.

Bears win in a blow out Sunday (at least I am hoping then I have a shot at winning the sunday night contest)

And I don't know how you can call a bear fan fickle, I dont' know if there is such a thing, a Bears fan always roots for the Bears, no matter how bad they are.

I know a thing or two about both teams.

Now, I've been known to lose more wagers than I win. Hey, I'm like any other mook in this joint! Thing is, as bad as the Bears and Pack have looked lately, I'll package the turd with the least smell.

Rumor on the streets is that the Bears would be better of letting the Packers win! I still don't see it happening that way. At any rate, unless Brett is connecting on those slant routes........I think the Bears will punch him in the nuts.

4 units on the greatest bet of all time?

Yes Me a Packer Backer since I new who they were about 1956. I understand GB//Bears history.
Bears do not like us and we them. But they have the team to sit most out 4th qt and still win by 8/9. We don't. And are last three big wins were over who. Even Vikes almost did us in. And we held there new rookie QB to 3 first downs. In a game if GB was so great and should have won by 18/20 they win by 2. That should be warning enough. And they were at home. We all may be missing something but my plays in.

Cornerback Charles Tillman's status for Sunday night's regular-season finale against the Green Bay Packers remains uncertain because of back spasms, which means the Bears' secondary remains a primary concern as they prepare for the postseason.

There's a good chance Tillman will miss the game at Soldier Field since the Bears have secured home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. If that's the case, the Bears will have played five straight games without their best four available defensive backs on the field, which could make it difficult for that unit to peak in the playoffs.

''You miss the leadership and sense of awareness on the field when Peanut or Nathan [Vasher] go down,'' rookie safety Danieal Manning said. ''Those things really help out. You need all that going into the playoffs.''

Injuries to strong safety Todd Johnson, Vasher and Tillman have contributed to the Bears allowing 297 passing yards in their last three games after allowing 168 per game through the first 12. The Bears have also allowed nine touchdown passes during that stretch.

''It can definitely be done,'' Johnson said when asked if cohesiveness can be built during the bye week. ''Sometimes you have no choice but to get it done. But it's always better to work on things during a game.''
