I was surprised to see the odds stay up to 2500 at BetUS even after Rodgers was announced the starter against the Bears Sunday.

Could this be 2010 all over again when the Packers had several key injuries and had to win em' all on the road in the playoffs to become SB champs? They got hot at the right time that year.

The Packers defense still sucks, but Rodgers just might be a shot in the arm this team needs for a deep run. It's still a long shot, but strong enough value to get me to wager my lottery ticket money!

As of 05:02 AM EST Friday,
Green Bay to win NFC:

BetUS- +2500
1Vice- +1250
Bovada +900

I don't think they have a chance in hell, and I think they are idiots for playing Rodgers.

What is the worst case scenario as it relates to the collarbone? Could it at all impact next season? I haven't read that anywhere.

I don't think they have a chance in hell,

The Pack was hitting stride on a 4 game winning streak when Rodgers went down, going 2-5-1 without him. Completely different team with him, they could play some inspired football. Been a crazy year, nothing would surprise me.

Seriously dude?? Why wouldn't he play? If he gets hurt and has all off season to get healthy...It's all or nothing this week you play your best player...he has been practicing for 3 weeks now.....Who knows if they win or not even with him playing but to say they're idiots for playing him is totally stupid on your part.

OK +2500 tells me 1 thing NMFW in hell will they win it are you joking ? teams s/u win record if they even win this game would be 8-7-1 and have you ever seen an 8 win team in the super bowl yet ?

NOPE ! Chagers tried that years ago EXIT second round and it was ugly

also adding the injury list of packers Clay matthews OUT again !

Remember how bad thier defense was without HIM ? How can they stop Bears offense!

Also as YYZ said i think it is ridiculous that a rusty Rodgers even wants to play!

Dumbest shit ever HE is not up at game speed he has been out two months

LOOK at CuNtler when he faced a winning team KABLEWIE

VS Browns at home whole 1st half he was out of sync they severly changed Game plan second half and were able to Beat Browns who are towel tosssing season right now or did you forget they gave away thier biggest weapon months ago for trade pics next year!

IF Bears HC has half a brain CuNtler goes bench fast and use MC Cown who only tossed 1 pick while playing

I wish i was a bookie i'd take any wager on Packers +2500 and go buy a NEW Benz as soon as i had enough cash without breaking a sweat nd btw already heard none of Bettors around hear even thinking about it !

They know Packers just playing for pride just to make playoffs !

Where are they going if they win? Big deal. I guess it might mean a lot to some people to shout about being North Champs, but I'd rather make sure the same team who sent him packing, doesn't do it for the rest of his career. His fucking O line and defense haven't gotten any better over the last two months!

What have you heard that could be a career ender? I'm not debating you I just haven't heard what the risks are.

I'm not saying his current injury could be re-aggravated necessarily.

My point is, it isn't like the Packers are "Aaron Rodgers" away from winning the Super Bowl. So, if that is the case, why the hell risk ANY injury?......Real or implied?

If that's the "pussy" route, I really don't care. Put him on ice.....give him the whole off season to "heal up" completely. Start fresh next year.

BUT.....You guys don't need to worry about how dumb I sound. They are doing it your way!

I certainly don't want to see him re-injure the collarbone, but, don't want the POS team they are playing beat us.

Packers win the Super Bowl with a rusty Rodgers and a pathetic defense? not a chance IMHO. Hope you don't bet over $100 on this wager. I would make them at least 40-1 odds. They have to win against Bears and did I say again their defense f'ing sucks!

Even if they win, they probably play 49'ers and their likely dogs by 3 points. They win that game and then at Seattle and probably 8 point dogs. They win that game and then who knows, but my guess is Carolina or New Orleans. Anything can happen, but this isn't 2010 and this Packers defense is a sieve. Think they lose to Chicago btw. Bears coming off a debacle and will come ready.

interesting point yyz makes...definitely a long shot....all due respect to my man yyz,but who thought the ravens would go into denver and beat manning...then beat brady at home....our defense was pretty mediocre last year.....i believe the ravens were dogs in the last three playoff games of the season last year(i`m including the super bowl)...anything can happen...

can`t imagine after playing 16 games and still having a chance to slide into the playoffs vs a hated rival how after the docs cleared him,the team mgmt could justify sitting rodgers in the finale with a playoff birth hanging in the balance....can you imagine telling the rest of the players who busted their asses without rodgers to get to the point where they actually just need a win to extend the season that they`re deciding to sit him despite his being declared healthy enough to play?......

and then theres the fan base....would be a real fiasco....

i see yyz`s point...but even if team mgmt wanted to take the conservative route,i don`t think they could...the shitstorm woukld be enormous...

all that said i`m a little surprised they`re favored in chicago.....wonder what the line would have been without rodgers?

This is an interesting thread contrasting homers (like me) with realists like YYZ.

I find Gardenweasel's thoughts the most relevant: Rodgers will be leading this team for many years to come and is medically cleared to play. Therefore he must play.

The Packers will beat the Bears relatively easily today and will then play the wild card (!!) Niners in Lambeau. After Rodgers shows his lack of rust, GB will either be a small fav or a pick. That'll be a good game, but only if Capers rises to the occasion and adjusts his defensive strategies. From there, I believe their next games will be on the road. The NFC Championship is within reach; The road to the SB is just a bit bumpier.

Chicago was as much as a 4 point favorite earlier in the week. Rodgers made a 6-7 point swing.

You make very valid points. The thing is......management could have just told another lie, and said Rodgers was still not cleared to play this week. Case closed on any fan outrage, etc.

As far as last year's Ravens, I think they had a little more going for them than GB does this year. I'd love to see them run the table! I just don't see it being in the cards.

i hear you,z,,,,,you`re a helluva lot closer to the situation than i am...and rodgers is looking a little inconsistent so far....sharp for the most part (but some uncharacteristicallyl bad decisions)....

personally, when he`s healthy and in form,i think he`s the best.....i think this game goes down to the wire unless cutler has a bad day(i know rodgers will get his)....
