what a bunch of BS.....they are claiming the reason for her release is some sort of "medical" condition.....what a crock.

He said privacy rules prohibited him from giving details about the medical issues, but celebrity Web site TMZ.com earlier quoted sources saying Hilton was refusing to eat much of the jail food served her.

Whitmore said that after "extensive consultation with medical personnel" it was decided to offer Hilton "reassignment" to home confinement, which she and her attorneys accepted. (Watch Hilton enter jail )

Hey a dog will eat if it gets hungary enough.

They should have expected Paris not to eat any jail food anyway. They should have flown in special meals from France to appease her.

I mean no one else in America once incarcerated gets treatment like that. They convene a special panel and decide to give her 40 days in the mansion instead. wowser.

Paris throws a tantrum about food and they give in . :142smilie :142smilie :SIB :nono:

it's really disgusting...this is another blemish on the calif/l.a.political system...it also verifies what everybody suspected...that there is a double standard in the justice system.....

not saying I would not hit it. Just if I went to jail I would get to go to the mansion. She will be doing drugs and drinking by now:mj07:

Just another example of a double standard in our justice system. Money and fame will get you a lot of places, no surprise there. But I definitely think this will raise some eyebrows and pi$$ some people off.

What a surprise, the rich get better treatment than us regular folks! The only surprise should be that she spent one night in jail. We are all equal but some are more equal than others.

have to disagree here. She was convicted of driving with a suspended license ! That's it. No accident. No injuries. No drugs or alcohol. Joe Average does NOT get sent to jail for that (certainly not for the first conviction). They sent her to jail to make her an example to all the other "celebs" out there. She didn't belong there in the first place.

keith...

here is brief summary of her record that i got form scott's post in the political forum...

Officers arrested Hilton in Hollywood on Sept. 7. In January, she pleaded no contest to the reckless-driving charge and was sentenced to 36 months' probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines.

She was pulled over by California Highway Patrol on Jan. 15. Officers informed Hilton she was driving on a suspended license and she signed a document acknowledging she was not to drive.

She then was pulled over by sheriff's deputies on Feb. 27, at which time she was charged with violating probation.

a couple questions for you keith or other attorneys since i don't know the answer...

how would a judge handle a person with the above incidents who wasn't born into a wealthy family ?

in addition to the above...how does a judge usually punish somebody who is late for a court appearance which i read that did occur with her?

I acknowledge that the technical violation that led her into jail was a probation violation. Every jurisdiction is different. Some District Attorneys are far more vigilant on these matters than others. I do honestly believe though that they tried to make an example of her, and to show that the Hilton $$$ could not buy her way out of this. I mean come on, people get convicted of "crimes" far worse than this, and never see the inside of a jail cell.

it's not like she got away with it. She can't go out. No shopping. Well, she could do QVC or something but no stores. She can't eat oit. She could do take out but no eating in restaurants or anything. This is pretty harsh. It's almost as if she had a bad cold....but she doesn't.

This is nothing compared to other celebrity outrages. Like Keith said, it was kind of amazing she was in jail at all.

If Phil Spector is found not guilty of murder I will burn LA down myself. ...In fact, I think maybe Spector is the real killer OJ has been looking for.:SIB
