ANTONIO, Texas -- Texas A&M officials have apologized to Penn State administrators for a student leader's references to needing a "casket" for coach Joe Paterno.

One A&M yell leader, during a pep rally Thursday night, told the crowd that Paterno was "on his death bed" and "someone needs to find him a casket." The remarks drew boos from the crowd.

Paterno turned 81 last week. Penn State faces A&M on Saturday night in the Valero Alamo Bowl.

I have spent alot of time looking at defenses, games played, stats, suspended players, etc.

But what this comes down to is one stupid cheerleader for Texas A&M saying this about
Penn States revered coach.

Paterno took it with class, said little about it other than , lets move on. But somehow I think this had to hurt him. And you hurt Paterno , you hurt his team.

Payback is a beech for a motivated Penn St defense.

Player - They said you were dead Coach
they said you were buried.

Paterno - I know what they said kid, the only thing that will kill me is if you dont go out there
and bury Texas A&M tonight.

Player - OK Coach, we make them pay.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Joe Paterno was overwhelmed by all the orange and maroon at Beaver Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The color scheme meant more to him on this picture-perfect, sunny afternoon than anything tinged Penn State blue-and-white.

Paterno and Penn State paid tribute to the victims of the Virginia Tech massacre at the annual Blue-White football game that concluded the Nittany Lions' spring practice.

"You get wrapped up so much in the little things, the details ... you get caught up," Paterno said. "Then all of a sudden you come to a day like today."

Jeremy Herbstritt, a civil engineering graduate student, was one of the 32 slain in the massacre Monday at Virginia Tech. Herbstritt had two undergraduate degrees from Penn State, most recently one in civil engineering from 2006.

Herbstritt grew up on a farm just outside of Bellefonte, about a 15-minute drive from Beaver Stadium, and his father works for the university's Office of Physical Plant.

Herbstritt's girlfriend and members of his family met with Paterno before the game, and presented him with Herbstritt's maroon Virginia Tech cap.

The gesture appeared to nearly move Paterno to tears. He walked into a pre-game news conference with the cap in hand. Herbstritt's parents attended the game and watched the tribute to their son and other victims.

.............................................................

This is the kind of class Coach Joe has for other
educational institutions.

Something that stupid cheerleader for Texas A&M will never know about .

Texas A&M will know about it come Saturday night.

Believe deep down in your heart that you're destined to do great things.

Besides pride, loyalty, discipline, heart, and mind, confidence is the key to all the locks.

Its the name on the front of the jersey that matters most, not the one on the back.

Losing a game is heartbreaking. Losing your sense of excellence or worth is a tragedy.

Publicity is like poison; it doesn't hurt unless you swallow it.

Success without honor is an unseasoned dish; it will satisfy your hunger, but it won't taste good.

The minute you think you've got it made, disaster is just around the corner.

The will to win is important, but the will to prepare is vital.

When a team outgrows individual performance and learns team confidence, excellence becomes a reality.

You have to perform at a consistently higher level than others. That's the mark of a true professional.

You need to play with supreme confidence, or else you'll lose again, and then losing becomes a habit.

Joe Paterno

However, it's difficult to predict how the resignation of head coach Dennis Franchione will affect the mindset of the A&M players, especially as it relates to the preparation for this game. In addition, Penn State matches up well in all three fazes of the game. Its defense is strong versus the run and it has enough athletes in the back seven to hold up one-on-one in coverage. Penn State is more consistent on special teams. It also has the weapons to exploit the Aggies' marginal secondary in coverage. If Hall opens things up offensively and Morelli gets time to throw, Penn State should have no problem disposing of A&M in the Alamo Bowl.

Thanks to DaddyChips for the above info from Scouts.

I think the coach leaving will have a large influence on the Texas team. Kind of a who gives a shit attitude.

I hate it when its this easy

Numbers from the last two games

A&M vs. Missouri and Texas (both teams equal or better than PSU)

#7 Stephen McGee | QB

43comp out of 64att

609 yards 5 tds 3 ints

QB rating 160+

Neither Mizzou & definately not the Horns have a secondary than can cover as well as PSU's. Texas has one of the worst back 4 in country in coverage, especially late this season.
