-- Penn State sophomore guard Danny Morrissey dislocated his left knee and is expected to miss four to six months.

Morrissey will likely undergo surgery in the next week and is expected to redshirt this season, the school said in a statement Sunday.

The shooting guard was injured during practice on Friday. He was attended to by team officials for several minutes after writhing on the floor in pain and had to be helped back to the bench.

"Obviously it's a big loss for our team," coach Ed DeChellis said. "Danny is one of our top shooters and top competitors and a team leader on the floor."
Morrissey had a similar injury to his right leg during his freshman year of high school. He started 10 games as a freshman last season when Penn State went 7-23 and averaged 7.7 points while leading the team with 53 3-pointers.

The Nittany Lions open the season on Nov. 19 against Cornell.
